I have said before that I’m not very good at cooking and I have no shame admitting that. There are a lot of times during the week that we eat frozen meals at home. They are convenient, easy to prepare and sometimes even tasty! 😉 My problem is that I always worry that my girls are missing out on a fresh meal with natural ingredients. This doesn’t happen during the weekend because we are lucky to have Daddy to cook delicious meals at home for us. My problem is during the week. How can I get the best of both worlds? A nutritious and fresh meal that I can put in my fridge to eat later during the week that is fresh and good for my girls. Well, I have finally found the solution to that! I was so lucky to be approached by the lovely Bels (Arabella), a wonderful nutritionist who has created Piccolo Plates with her business partner Els (Eleanor) who is a chef. They are both the perfect match for this business!
Piccolo Plates is a child friendly healthy food delivery service for families in London. They offer free delivery across London. Each dish costs £5 and serves 2 children. None of their dishes have added salt or added sugar. They are all simply natural and nutritious.
(Els & Bels)
Els & Bels want our children to feel happy, nourished and energised by healthy, non processed, homemade food. They want to help families with the task of cooking healthy food that our children will eat and enjoy. Bels came up with the idea of Piccolo Plates after working with families and seeing how hard it was for parents to provide a variety of healthy, nutritionally balanced food which children would then eat and enjoy.
Bels personally delivered to us, 6 different meals to try: Chicken and Pesto nuggets, Butternut Squash and Carrot Risotto, 7 Veggie Pasta Bake, Veggie Shepherds Pie, Cottage pie and Fish Pie. They all came with the ingredients, cooking instructions and expiration date on the front so it was clear what to do. My girls really enjoyed trying all of the different dishes. Sienna absolutely loved the nuggets. She ate it all by herself! Bella’s favourite was Butternut Squash & Carrot Rissotto. She ate it very quickly too. 🙂
You can see some photos of each meal below and how my girls really loved eating all of them:

All the Piccolo Plates dishes are delivered chilled for you to reheat at a time that suits you. Full cooking instructions are supplied with each dish. Also all the Piccolo Plates can be frozen for up to 3 months. You can order dishes up to 9am the day before your scheduled delivery of Tuesday or Thursday. For Tuesday delivery you should order by 9am on Monday and for Thursday delivery by 9am on Wednesday. Once you have placed an order they contact you to arrange an hourly delivery slot that suits you. They have a minimum order of two Piccolo Plates. They are also very happy to try and accommodate any allergy requests.
I guess this service can also be useful for schools that want to provide healthy lunches to their children or parents could use this service to deliver the food to their children directly to the school (if that’s an option) and forget about packing lunch boxes. This is not something that they provide yet but I can see them going towards that direction.
What do you think of this idea? If you are a busy parent and work all week, could this be a solution for you? Will you be willing to try a service like this for your children? Leave a comment below as I would love to read what your thoughts are.
*Disclosure: I was provided with 6 samples of meals in exchange for a blog post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thanks for stopping by,
Love you all ❤️

What a fantastic idea! Whether you are working or not, very often cooking fresh food on a daily basis comes bottom of the long list of things we have to do everyday. Good luck to the ladies running this business. #KCACOLS xx
