The girls woke up early this morning to prepare daddy’s presents and cards as well as a yummy breakfast. Bella wanted to prepare scrambled eggs, bacon and baked beans for daddy. So we cracked on with that. ⁣

Little Sienna was also involved. She helped us mix things. It is nice to see that they are now more involved in the process. ⁣
⁣
We let daddy have a long lay in today so he was happy and rested after that! He really enjoyed his breakfast and had 2 portions! He loved his presents too, especially his cards. ⁣
⁣

We had a Zoom meeting yesterday with the school and Year 5 has been invited back to school. The decision was made due to 11+ preparations as they will need to take exams when they apply to certain schools this year and kids will benefit if they continue with their preparations. ⁣
⁣
The school has decided to have the kids back tomorrow which was a little bit of a surprise as I was thinking this will perhaps be happening next week and we will have time to prepare Bella and us for it. I was very worried how Bella would react because she has a lot of anxieties and going back could bring back those feelings. ⁣
⁣
She didn’t take it very well at first and of course it is understandable. She felt very nervous and didn’t know what to expect. However, we had a long chat about it and discussed the positives and negatives of going back to school. She had a few chats with friends which helped her to feel more confident. And after that, she came to me and said that she was now happy to go back to school. After considering all her options, she now feels ready. She misses her friends a lot so this has helped with her decision too. ⁣

My youngest is already at school, so we know things are being taken care of properly and they wouldn't invite another Year if it wouldn't be safe to do. Our school has small numbers of pupils per year so this has helped with their decision. So, fingers crossed everything goes well this week 🤞🏻⁣

As I mentioned in a previous post, I have been indecisive about sending my youngest daughter back to school. I wasn’t sure what to do so I thought best to wait and see how things go this week. ⁣

After good feedback from other parents, teachers and the school we thought it is perhaps now time for Sienna to go back to school. She is missing her friends a lot and she sees her friends that are already at school on Zoom so she has been wondering why some of her friends are already at school and she isn’t. ⁣

I am happy that she is excited to go back to school and looking forward to Monday. For me this means that I will be able to focus more on my older daughter Bella as she needs a lot of my attention. I know this is a personal decision, so I really hope this works for all of us.⁣

I was wondering how a lockdown birthday will be this year for me and so far, it has been great! Last night, I had a lovely Zoom party with my school friends from Peru and one from Mexico. We met at 11:30 pm and waited until midnight to sing happy birthday! 🥳It was awesome! 🙌🏻⁣

I haven’t done something like this before, just a video call with one person but not with more people in it. Now you can gather a lot of people around the world in one place to celebrate! It is amazing! 👍🏻⁣

I would say, this is the most positive outcome of COVID19. I guess people needed a way to communicate and learnt how to do it quickly. So I am so grateful for Zoom! This is definitely something that I will keep post covid19. And you? ⁣

If you are based in England and have a child at Reception, Year 1 or Year 6 you will need to decide if you will send them back to school on Monday 1st June.⁣

This has been in my mind since the government announced the new guidelines a week ago. My youngest is in Y1 so this applies to her. I have so many mixed feelings about this decision. On one hand I am so exhausted after having overseen 2 different school timetables. There is a lot of work coming from their school so every day we finish way after the normal school hours. My eldest needs a lot of attention and I find it hard to divide myself. So having my youngest at school will allow me to help my eldest more. ⁣
⁣
However, I am not feeling things are ready for this moment yet. I’m not sure it is safe yet and kids at that age will not understand social distancing. The drop off and pick up times concern me. Will the kids wear masks? I don’t think my youngest will keep a mask on for more than 5 minutes. I also know my girls feel strange about being separated like that. One going to school but the other one stays at home with mummy and daddy. Doesn’t feel right, does it? ⁣
⁣
I honestly don’t know what is best to do. I feel it is a little bit too soon considering the UK has the biggest death figures in Europe. Not having a good testing system concerns me too. I am worried things will get worse and we end up with a second wave but at the same time, I feel we need a break. ⁣

I think we will only know what to do nearer the time. At the moment I am not sure what is best. ⁣
