Play-doh Touch Shape to Life Studio Review

amomentwithfranca · 17 July 2019 · 23 Comments

My girls are big fans of Play-doh. They love making their own creations with the different colours and have loved reviewing some of the Play-doh sets we have received in the past. So when we had the chance to try out the Play-doh Touch Shape To Life Studio, I knew they would love this too. Initially, I was a little worried Sienna might be too young for it as we got this set when she was 3 years old.

The Play-doh Touch Shape to Life Studio is an amazing new way to create new worlds and characters by fusing your physical Play-doh creations to an interactive world via an app. To do this you simply need to download the Play-doh Touch app to your phone/tablet. You then use the app to take pictures of your creations to upload to the app and create a whole new world for your new characters.

We found it really easy to set up and the girls were both off making their creations within minutes. You get 7 tubs of play-doh with the set to get you started and 19 associated tools and cutters to help make your new shapes for the app. You also get 10 digital stampers to create your characters.

They are really chunky and easy to use. You start by making sure you have rolled out your Play-doh so you can make your character with one of the colours. This needs to be done on the station ready for you to snap it into the app. Once you have one removed it from the stamper on the station you can then give it some eyes or other features.

We made some cute little creatures to scan onto the app. It is so easy to do too. Just hold the phone/tablet over your creation on the station and take a picture to upload it into the world inside the app. You do need to make sure it is in the centre though. You can make as many or as few as you like as when you have added them to the app, they stay there for you come back and play with at another time. This is such a great feature as it means you can put the Play-doh away when you have finished with it.

This really captured the girl’s imaginations and Sienna especially loved being able to check her characters on the app again and again. They played with it for so long it was great to see them getting really involved in what they were doing. you can play for a while within the app as you explore different worlds and things to the world by using the shape cutters and adding in different colours too.

Personally, I think this is more suitable for younger children as it really will capture their imaginations and help them become more creative with the Play-doh. Bella loved getting involved too but some older kids might not find this keeps their attention for so long.

The Play-doh Touch Shape to Life Studio is a great toy and perfect for any Play-doh loving child young or old. It was definitely a hit in this house! If you would like to buy the Play-doh Touch Shape to Life Studio you can get it from Amazon.

Do your kids love playing with Play-doh? Have you heard of this set before?

I dislike play-doh personally, I don’t like the feeling of it one my hands. And I think Snappy is going to be like me in that regard. Which is a shame, cause I don’t even have a carpet downstairs for him to ruin! They look like they had so much fun. #kcacols
