Top Family Days Out in Surrey – Guest Post

amomentwithfranca · 22 February 2018 · 5 Comments

This is a guest post written by the lovely Rebecca from All About You Blog called “Top Family Days Out in Surrey”. If you are planning to visit Surrey and you would like suggestions of places to visit with your little ones, you will find this post very useful.  If you would like to know more about Rebecca and her blog, please scroll down to the bottom of this post where you can find her details, under “About the Author“.

Having lived in Surrey for nearly nine years, we have found a fair few places for day trips and family outings. Pretty much, if you’ve got a National Trust membership, then you’ll do well in Surrey! But there are plenty of other things to do in Surrey if you don’t have an NT pass. So today I just thought I’d share a few of the favourite spots that we’ve been to that make for a fun day out.

HAVE YOU BEEN TO ANY OF THEM?

BOX HILL

Photo from Flickr

This is a National Trust site, but the only thing that you’d need to pay for is the car park, so it makes for a cheap day out. As the name describes, it is on a hill, with a few different walks for all abilities. The family route is just over a mile and has little things set up along the way that you can play at, so you can easily spend a few hours. If you’ve not got kids or your children are older, there are some much longer routes. It is a popular cycling area (having been the spot for the 2012 Olympics road race), so watch out for plenty of cyclists!

Address: Zig Zag Road, Tadworth KT20 7LB
Cost: £4 for the day or free if you have a National Trust pass for your car

CHESSINGTON WORLD OF ADVENTURES

Photo from Wikimedia Commons

Chessington isn’t a day out that you’d do every weekend, but if you’re looking for a family-friendly theme park, then this is the one for you. Thorpe Park is technically in Surrey too, but I think Chessington is better for younger families. There are fun shows, with a lot of different rides, as well as a zoo. It is easy to park (with a cost of £3) and we’ve really enjoyed it when we’ve been before.

Address: Leatherhead Road, Chessington KT9 2NE
Cost: £49 per adult day ticket (but you can find plenty of offers and discounts)

BROOKLANDS MUSEUM & MERCEDES WORLD

Photo from Geograph

These two aren’t connected, but they are very close by to each other. So if you’re going to see one of them, then you may as well go to the other as well and make a big day of it. Mercedes World is essentially a car showroom, however, there are plenty of cafes, as well as driving experiences, cars you can get it, and the history of Mercedes-Benz. We go quite a lot as there is no cost, and it has updated displays about racing and Formula 1 (a favourite in our house).

The Brooklands Museum is right by Mercedes World, and you can easily spend a number of hours there. If you’ve got transport mad children, then this is a great place for them. You can even go aboard Concorde!

Address: Brooklands Drive, Weybridge KT13 0SL
Cost: Mercedes World is free, Brooklands Museum is £12 per adult, children under 5 are free

CLAREMONT LANDSCAPE GARDEN

Photo from Wikimedia Commons

As the name suggests, it is a large landscape area with camellia terrace, man-made lake, a tower, and thatched house. If you’re going to go, you need to visit on a sunny day, as it is all based outdoors. The lands are large though so you an easily spend a while. There is an open-air amphitheatre too that even does certain events and shows. So might be worth checking out before you plan to go.

Address: Portsmouth Rd, Esher KT10 9JG
Cost: free to National Trust Members or £8 per adult ticket

GODSTONE FARM

You can spend ages at Godstone Farm, and we have been in both summer and winter. There is plenty to do! As well as all of the animals, you can pet and feed certain ones, as well as go on tractor rides, or play in the indoor soft play. There is a large play sandpit as well as an inner tube ride to slide down the hill. Mazes and climbing frames, even a dinosaur section, there is a lot to do. So for me, it really is worth the money.

Address: Tilburstow Hill Road, Godstone RH9 8LX
Cost: £16.50 for one adult and one child (aged over two). Booking online in advance gives a 10% discount

Have you ever been to any of them? What do you think of Rebecca’s list of suggestions of things to do in Surrey? Do you have more places to add to this list? You can find Rebecca at All About You Blog HERE and you can follow her on Twitter,  Instagram, Pinterest & Facebook.

We used to live in Surrey, and the kids loved Godstone Farm, especially during the Spring and lambing season. A great place to visit and lots of fond memories!!!

✨ Cat Cafe In London✨.📍Bella and I went t ✨ Cat Cafe In London✨.📍Bella and I went to @javawhiskersuk , a cat cafe located in @westfieldlondon . This was my present for Mother’s Day from her🌸.🌟 Before we went inside, we had to go to a separate room to wash our hands and remove our shoes..🐾 They have 2 different rooms: the Cat Lounge and the Kitten Lounge and you can choose to stay from 55 mins to 1hr 55 mins. The prices vary depending on the room you choose and the length of time..🍰 When we stepped inside the room we were greeted by a group of gorgeous kittens. We ordered (before we went inside the room) a latte and a delicious chocolate muffin with chocolate melted inside that was so good. This was served to us in the room while we were surrounded by these adorable kittens..🐱 We spent 55 mins playing and petting the kittens. They were so cute. We loved interacting with them..🥰 Their cafe is also a foster home for homeless cats so if you are looking to adopt one, this is the place to visit! They have had 230 successful adoptions already! 🙌🏻.🚨 The only downside is that you have to be over 10 years old in order to be allowed inside the rooms 😬.🐈 If you are a cat lover like us, I highly recommend you visit Java Whiskers! It is the perfect place to unwind and relax with these beautiful kittens! 🙌🏻.Have you visited a Cat Cafe before? 🐈‍⬛ .#javawhiskers #catcafe #catcafelondon #londoncafe #westfieldlondon #londondayout #daysout #thingstodoinlondon #newplaces #londonguide #lovecats😻 #catsofinstagram #catloversday #londonthingstodo #whatsonlondon

We spent 55 mins arround gorgeous kittens. I had a great time! I am a cat lover so this was a fab present for me! I will talk more about this experience on another post but if you swipe left you can see a little peak of our time there! 🐈😉.Today, the girls and Nick took me for the actually Mother’s Day celebration 🎉 to @cafejackss in Queen’s Park where we had brunch. It was a yummy treat. Swipe left to check it out! 😋 .After that we went for a walk. There was a small market nearby so it was nice to have a little look around 😍. We then went back home and spent the rest of the day chilling which is something, I’m not going to lie, I love doing! 😉😂.How was your day?#mothersdayuk #mothersdayweekend #mothersday2023 #motherofdaughters #mumoftwo #mumofgirls #mydaughters #lovemydaughters #daughterslove #mummydaughtertime #daughtersarethebest #daughtersrock #spendingtimetogether #happyfamilytime #familytime💕
✨My Girls✨.Due to the strikes we had Sienna ✨My Girls✨.Due to the strikes we had Sienna at home yesterday and today, and Bella only today. I thought it would be very chaotic but despite it always being louder when the girls are at home, especially my youngest one, lol, we did well..Bella did school work at home today and had the afternoon free. Sienna didn’t do school work. We only asked her to carry on doing Spanish and Maths via Duolingo. She also had Spanish lessons this afternoon (every Thursday she has lessons) so both days were manageable thankfully 😍.How was it for you? Did your kids stay at home or did they go to school? .PS: let’s hope things get better for teachers. I fully support the strikes. .#sistertime #sisterlylove #sistersgoals #hermanas #sistersforever #sistersforlife #sisterslove #siblingslove #lovemydaughters #raisingdaughters #mydaughters #londonkids #WembleyPark #wembley #londondesigneroutlet
✨Happy Weekend✨.How is your weekend going so ✨Happy Weekend✨.How is your weekend going so far? I am finally feeling more normal after the massive jetlag I had after my trip to South America. I am not sure why it hit me so much this time but it has taken me about two solid weeks to properly be back to my routine without feeling right. Waking up in the mornings was the worst. It was very hard, especially when I had to be on time for the school run! 😩.Anyway, everything feels better now! 😊.How long does it take you to be back to normal after a jetlag? Do you have any tricks or tips to speed this process? .📸 Selfy taken in Barranco, a lively district in Peru considered to be one of the most romantic and bohemian places to visit and being the home and working place of many Peruvian artists, musicians, designers, photographers among others 😎.#thisisme #selfie #instaselfie #smilemore #brunettehair #greeneyes #over40#over40blogger #overforty #overfortystyle #over40andfabulous #over40mom #outandabout #barrancolima
