If you’re always looking for something new and exciting to do in London, Prison Island London should be top of your list. Unlike traditional escape rooms, this new immersive experience in Islington takes teamwork and problem-solving to a whole new level. With over 30 themed challenge rooms—called “cells”—it’s fast-paced, adrenaline-filled, and the perfect mix of fun, logic, and friendly competition.
We recently visited as a family, and it was honestly one of the most unique and entertaining activities we’ve tried in London. Whether you go with friends, family, or colleagues, Prison Island London guarantees an experience like no other.
Prison Island London: The Ultimate Family Experience
What Is Prison Island London?
Prison Island London is not your typical escape room. Instead of solving one big puzzle to “escape,” you and your team move between multiple challenge rooms—each one testing a different skill, from logic and coordination to agility and quick thinking.
Inspired by a Scandinavian concept, Prison Island has already been a hit across Europe, and now it’s finally arrived in the UK. Teams of two to five players have 60 minutes to complete as many challenges as possible, scoring points along the way. Each cell is completely different—some are brain-teasing puzzles, others require teamwork or physical coordination—and you can attempt them in any order you like.
It’s a fantastic activity for families, friends, and corporate team-building, offering something for all ages (7 and up). You don’t need to be super fit or a puzzle genius—there’s a mix of challenges for everyone, which makes it so much fun.
Our Experience at Prison Island London
We decided to take on the challenge as a family and completed 26 out of 31 rooms! From the moment we stepped inside, the atmosphere was electric—each door held a surprise behind it, and we couldn’t wait to see what was next.
The best part? Every room is unique, so you’re constantly thinking, moving, and laughing. You can choose which cells to try, retry any you didn’t complete, and race against the clock to beat your own score. It’s a great bonding experience that brings everyone together (and a bit of competition too!).
By the end, we were all out of breath, smiling, and already talking about going back to finish the last few rooms. It’s definitely one of those experiences you’ll remember long after you leave.
