Chilcano de Pisco Recipe – Peruvian Cocktail

amomentwithfranca · 16 July 2015 · 7 Comments

As a proud Peruvian I wanted to share with you a traditional cocktail from my country. It’s not as well known as the famous Pisco Sour (I’ll share a recipe for that another day) but it is much easier and quicker to prepare and is the perfect drink for those hot summer days!

Chicano-Cocktail

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 ounces Ginger Ale
  • 2 ounces Pisco
  • 1/2 lime (or 1 tablespoon key lime juice)

You can buy Pisco in the UK from suppliers in London (such as Gerrys) and you can easily order it online from Amazon and other websites. Be sure to ask for Peruvian Pisco!

PREPARATION
  1. Fill a glass tumbler (8 ounce) with ice cubes.
  2. Pour the Pisco over the ice cubes.
  3. Squeeze the lime juice and pour into the glass.
  4. Add the Ginger Ale.
  5. Ready to drink!

Thanks for stopping by,

Love you all ❤️

So what does Pisco taste of? I’m intrigued as we love a good cocktail and I’m a big fan of ginger ale in my cocktails, my fave being berry vodka, apple juice and ginger ale 🙂

Hi, Pisco has a fairly ‘sharp’ taste if you drink it neat but when mixed in cocktails such as a Chilcano or Pisco Sour it literally transforms the taste as the drinks are quite sweet and go down quite easily – be careful LOL! I found this link which explains the taste far better than I can: http://mixthatdrink.com/what-does-pisco-taste-like/

This sounds so refreshing! I am in the U.S. never heard of Pisco. Would they refer to it as something else here? Thanks for linking up another wonderful recipe with #foodpornthursdays.

Hi Trista, you can definitely buy it in the USA although like in the UK it might not be that easy to come across. You can check this link at Wine Searcher for online stores who supply it in the USA http://www.wine-searcher.com/find/pisco/1/usa
