Not long ago I was approached by Mark Smith, the founder of Clever Bees Club who explained to me all about the idea behind this new subscription box. I was initially a bit hesitated about this because there are so many subscriptions boxes out there at the moment that I wasn’t sure if this would be any different. However, there were something that was telling me that I should try it so I agreed to review it.
The idea for this box came about when Mark went out with his daughters to a large toy store where they could spend their pocket money. The girls were overwhelmed with the amount of options available and how expensive they were. There was nothing that could cover lots of activities in one. So he thought that it would be great to have a box, delivered on a regular basis that contains a mixture of new interesting activities as well as fun toys to play with. It should have a little bit of everything. That is how Clever Bees Club was born.
Why are they Unique?
The Clever Bees Club offers the perfect balance of development and play for your child. There will be reusable activities and products that will develop your child and will last at least until the time the next box arrives. You can find:
- enough activities to last longer than a single weekend.
- activities that are focus on your child’s development, whilst making it fun and interactive.
- products that are of value as well as activities for your child to complete.
When we received the box, Bella and I were very curious of its content. We really didn’t know what to expect. The box was personalised with Bella’s name at the front.
Inside, everything came nicely wrapped together with some suggestions of what activities to do. This listed the items required as well as what developmental benefit the activity would provide. Also included was a Reward Chart which is always very helpful. We were really impressed with the variation of items that we found in the box. They were all related with water activities so my girls were looking forward to having some fun with water.
Bella began by opening her box and discovering each item included. She did some of the suggested activities and then we headed to the bath where little Sienna was also able to join in and participate with the water fun activities. They both really had so much fun! After we had finished, it was really hard to get them out of the bath! They wanted to keep on playing there forever (in spite of blue lips and wrinkled fingers, LOL!).
The items we discovered inside the box were an activity book, bath crayons, bubbles, colouring & drawing activity book, cooking recipes, flannel, foam water squirter, goggles, ice cube tray, story book and water bombs. See below each item:
ACTIVITY BOOK
Bella really enjoyed going through this activity book. She loves stickers so she really spent some time placing the stickers. She was also very interested in putting the correct numbers on the big clock. She has been learning about the time at school recently so she knew what to do.
COLOURING & DRAWING ACTIVITY BOOK
All kids love colouring and drawing so she was very happy to receive this travel sized colouring book. The size was perfect for taking with us when we are out and about and she needs something to keep her entertained.
STORY BOOK
Aww we love The Gruffalo’s Child story book. We have lots of books from Julia Donaldson. They are all great. It was just a shame that we already have this book. We still loved reading it again though! 🙂
COOKING RECIPE
I thought this was a great idea. This is an activity that Bella loves doing with daddy. They have not done this yet but it is on their list for when they next do spme cooking or baking. We received 2 recipes, Cheese Straws and Simple Jam Biscuits. The great thing about this is that they can do this several times which adds more value to the box. They also come punched and laminated, so you can collect them all and at the end they will provide a folder where you can put them all together! How thoughtful is that? Amazing!
ICE CUBE TRAY
This was part of an experiment. They wanted us to put the ice cube tray in the freezer filled with water so we have some ice prepared. Then the experiment was about taking out the tray and emptying it to get 2 pieces of ice. One was then to be place in the shade and one in the sun. I was then required to ask Bella which ice cube would melt first. This gets your mind into thinking how it works so they are able to learn something new. I like this idea. It was quick and easy but educational too.
GOGGLES & FOAM WATER SQUIRTER
My girls had so much fun with both of these items. Bella is really into swimming underneath the water just lately so the goggles were perfect for her. She always plays with them now. The foam water squirter is a lot of fun too. They suggested to use it to aim towards some cups as target practice, LOL!
BUBBLES
What child doesn’t like bubbles! I think bubbles are always fantastic entertainment for children of all ages. Sienna really loved playing with the bubbles. She was asking for it all the time but then she wanted to play with the bottle and half of it spilled into the bath, so it didn’t last long, LOL!
WATER BOMBS & BATH CRAYONS
OMG these two items were amazing and were such great entertainment for the girls. They spent a long time playing with them. With the crayons, they drew everywhere: the walls, the edges of the bath, on their bodies, etc. They were obsessed with them until they ran out (lasting for about a week). They clean very easily so you don’t see any mess after cleaning up! Just fantastic!
FLANNEL
The flannel was perfect for helping to clean all the mess from the crayons. It took literally 5 minutes to get all tidy and clean in the bathroom. I was so impressed.
We were all very pleased with this box. It brings much more to you than any other subscription box. You will know for sure that your kids will be busy and happy playing for hours, days and even weeks!
The type of ideas and topics you can expect from this box are cooking recipes, activity books, creative crafts, animal facts, geography, music and sounds, basic science, insects and flowers, grow your own fruit and veg, the human body, story books, family games, colouring & drawing, competitions, etc. How amazing is that?
They have a monthly subscription of £19.95 which I think is great for what you are getting. Lots of items and lots of activities to do for a longer period.
What do you think of this subscription box? Could this be something you would like to try to entertain your kids with? Please leave a comment below as I would love to hear what you think.
*Disclaimer: I received this box from Clever Bees Club for the purpose of this review but all opinions and thoughts are my own. I was also offered the opportunity to giveaway a 3 months subscription.
Thanks for stopping by,
Love you all ❤️

I do like the idea of this box but I’m not sure whether I’d be willing to switch from our current craft subscription as my niece really loves crafts and I’m not sure if she would enjoy the baking things as much.
