I’m extremely surprised with the latest toy that we have received. I’m talking about the Disney Princess Ariel Bath Styling Head from Just Play. I know that Bella loves playing at the moment with water and styling heads so I thought this toy was just up her street. But OMG, I never thought it was going to be that successful! She absolutely loved it! It is just a joy to see her so excited about playing with Ariel during her bath times at the moment!
The Disney Princess Ariel Bath Styling Head is perfect for girls aged 4 years and over, so Bella was perfect for it. We have not tried it yet with Sienna around as I wanted to first see how Bella enjoys this toy but I’m so looking forward to getting Sienna involved in the fun next time! I’m sure she will love it too.
Both my girls are Disney Princess fans and Ariel is one of Bella’s favourites so we were lucky to have her to review. Having some fun in the bath with her is just what Bella enjoyed the most. She literally, just wants to bring all her dolls to the bath (including big dolls and small ones like Barbies). She asks this every day and I let her bring some but sometimes it is just so much hassle to have so many wet dolls in the bath. This means that this bath styling head couldn’t arrive at a better moment as I really love the idea to have something more appropriate for the bath during bath times.
When we decided to do the review, Bella put on her swimsuit and was all ready to start the fun, LOL! We opened the box first outside the bath and removed all the contents. It comes with a hair brush, a flower hair comb, four hair clips, a necklace, and a shell water cup.
I would like to mention that I have never seen a toy this well packed. It is actually great to find out that but at the same time it was so difficult to get it all out, LOL! The hair came wrapped in transparent plastic all sewn up with a red thread! It took me some time to get it all out of the packagingbut it was worth the effort in the end!
Ariel’s hair was styled with hairspray so it was hard when we touched it. Bella was disappointed at this stage but I had to explain to her that this is how they pack these toys to protect them when they are being transported. We were hoping that it will be better as soon as we wet her hair and I’m happy to say that this was the case.
This is a really well-made high quality toy. I was impressed at how similar she was to Ariel. This was something that Bella liked when she first saw her. We also like the idea of having a styling head for the bath which although a typical toy, it was even better when we knew it was one of the Disney Princesses. Definitely a plus for our kids.
The Ariel Bath Styling Head comes with three large suction pads which are great for hanging on the wall of your bath. It is very strong so it stayed there for a long time which is something very important when you have this type of toy.
Ariel’s beautiful red hair can be styled whilst in the water and her eyeshadow, lips, nails and hair will magically change colour. We had some issues with this feature at the beginning. As soon as we put Ariel in our bath we put some really cold water in the shell cup and Bella poured the water on her hair and face. We were very disappointed as nothing happened. I then went to the kitchen and got water from the fridge and we tried it again but still nothing. It was annoying! 🙁
I went to grab the instructions and tried to read it properly again as I was sure we were doing something wrong. The instructions said that we need ice cold water so maybe our water was not icy enough. I guess for that, we will need to be prepared in advance and have the water in the freezer first. I thought that was silly as you can’t do this every time that you have a bath and want to play with her.
In that particular moment, Bella decided to pour warm water from the bath and YES it then worked! The colours of her hair, lips and eyeshadow changed from a darker red colour to a pink colour for the eyeshadows and lips and from a dark blue colour to a light blue colour for the teal hair strand. We did it!
I the found the following in the instructions: “It is possible that the colour change included in this item has taken place prior to purchase. If this has occurred, please apply warm water to the affected areas to return the colour to its original state”. This is exactly what happened to us, so now you know. If you get this toy please be aware that the colour might have changed already and you will need warm water first.
After that, to activate the colour change, you will need to splash with icy cold water and then change it back with warm water. However, we have not been able to reverse the colour again as the icy cold water is still an issue for us. I will need to try harder next time and get it ready for the bath as just cold water will not reverse the colour.
After our initial success of changing the colour for the first time, Bella was really happy. Since then, she decided to stay a little bit longer brushing her hair and putting the hair clips on her. She was really happy playing there for a while. I think for Bella this is the main feature. This is what she enjoyed the most so the colour changing was not a big deal for her. Thank goodness!
Overall, Bella had so much fun playing with this bath styling head. As I said, we had a little bit of an issue with the colour changing but I was happy we managed to see something when applying warm water. I recommend you to read the instructions carefully first. I’m sure as soon as Sienna joins the fun they will be playing with it every bath time! 😉

Oh this does look good, we are having real trouble keeping Evie in the bath at the moment so something like this would be awesome I think! We had an Elsa hair styling head which she did really like!
