I’m a huge fan of Dyson! They are brilliant and they always have great technology. We have a Dyson Vacuum at home and we have always been very pleased with it. I was very excited when AO.com contacted me to review a Dyson Humidifier AM10. I have never bought a humidifier or fan from them before so this was our first experience.
For this review, we were asked to provide a video in which I explain everything that you need to know about this humidifier. You can see the video below:
When you open the box you will see that it comes with 4 main components: the loop, the tank, the base, the power adapter, plus a remote control. It is very easy to install. The instructions are very clear so you should be able to get it up and running in no time – we managed to assemble it in minutes. You need to fill the tank with water which the humidifier uses to create the mist it puts into the air.
After you plug in the humidifier and turn it on, it takes about 3 minutes before it begins putting a mist into the air. You can see the mist coming out from the loop which is fantastic. You can have the humidity level set up to 70. One of the reasons why I was very keen on having a humidifier was because I have an asthmatic daughter. Not long ago she had to stay in the hospital for about 4 days following an attack which was obviously a big scare for us. This humidifier is supposed to be very good for people who suffer from asthma or any other allergies or breathing related problems as it purifies the air. You can feel that the air quality is much better after having the humidifier running for a short time which is fantastic. We are hopeful that this product will be of huge benefit to us as I would love to see an improvement in my daughter’s health. I can’t say that we have seen this yet as we will need to try it for a longer sustained period but so far the early signs have been great.
There are lots of benefits from this product. You can get a healthier environment when you hydrate dry air. The problem with dry air is that you can get dry skin, it can irritate your sinuses, your throat and of course your eyes that then become super itchy. Also, it has been proven that viruses, flu, and colds can survive longer amongst dry air. The greatest feature of this product is that every water molecule is exposed to a special ultraviolet light that removes 99.9% of bacteria before it’s released into the room in the form of a mist – keeping the air in your home humid and hygienic.
Another thing that I thought was great was the double functionality because it also functions as a fan. This is something that is always very handy to have. It has 10 different air flow speeds and it does cool the air but you can only feel the effect if you are not too far from it. The fan is not its main feature of course and Dyson does have amazing fans that have this as the main feature, including models with a larger ‘loop’, which I expect have a much further reach. This product’s main feature is as a humidifier with the added option of a fan which is handy for those warm days but not for those super hot days – where perhaps a dedicated fan or A/C unit would be preferable. The good thing is that in the UK we thankfully don’t tend to have many of those super hot days.
One of the things that caught my attention a lot was the design. It looks fantastic and very stylish! The design is one that is completely safe for kids – no sharp, rotating blades. You will never have an accident with your kids around which I thought was important to highlight.
It also comes with a remote control that is magnetic so you can put it at the top of the loop and it will stay there which is great. The remote control has an auto mode that works out what humidity your environment needs, which I thought was a great feature.
Overall, I’m very pleased with this product. I have seen some positive effects and in the longer term, I’m really looking forward to seeing an improvement in my daughter’s asthma. Thank you, Dyson, for such a fantastic product! 🙂
