It’s not often that Nick and I have lunch together in the middle of the week but recently we were asked to review Cocotte in their new home in Hoxton Square. It is so close to Nick’s work we thought it would be perfect to meet up in the day. Cocotte has two main locations in Notting Hill and now Hoxton Square.
Cocotte is a French farm to table rotisserie with their chicken sourced from Evron in the Loire Valley of France. All chicken is free range and marinated in a special blend of herbs and spices for 24 hours before being cooked slowly and finished on the spit. All fruits and vegetables are sourced from local independent suppliers.
We booked a table at Cocotte Hoxton for 12:30 pm because we wanted to be early when not a lot of people were around. I love when a restaurant is not crowded. The restaurant was small which means that the tables were very close to each other but it is cosy at the same time so we didn’t mind. We actually enjoyed the atmosphere.
Sampling The Menu At Cocotte Hoxton Square
When we arrived we were lucky to meet the manager of Cocotte Hoxton Square. He was so friendly and explained to us what the menu was about. It was lovely to hear more about the menu and how Cocotte try to be as sustainable as possible whilst serving delicious home cooked food that is wholesome. And he also brought us some prosecco which was kind of him!
We couldn’t decide what to order and wanted to try it all and he was kind enough to bring us a selection of food from the menu. OMG…what we got was DELICIOUS! It was seriously the best chicken I have ever tried and I have tried amazing ones back home in Peru.
Our selections included half chicken on a wooden shopping table together with their 6 homemade sauces: Garlic Mayo, Tarragon Mustard, Cocotte’s Gravy Classic Mayo, Spicy, Green Sauce, Truffle Mayo and BBQ. They were all super tasty. But my favourites were the Green Sauce and Garlic Mayo. Next was a selection of sides such as Truffled Mac&Cheese, Roasted Root Vegetables, Baby Potatoes and two salads: Green Salad and Nathalie Salad that had kale on it. It was all out of this world!
For desserts, we did the same as with the main courses. This time we were served by a woman who explained to us a little bit more about the desserts they have and the first thing she recommended was their Mochi. If you haven’t heard of them before, they are a Japanese Ice Cream. I haven’t tried them before but when we went to Ichiba in Westfield we saw they had them there too. We wanted to try them that day but for some reason, we didn’t do it so when she suggested trying the Mochi, we were happy to try it out! We got 2 flavours: chocolate and vanilla! They were absolutely yummy! I really like them and I will order them again for sure.
Again, we also got a selection from the menu to try. So we tried Date & Coconut Cake, Chocolate & Hazelnut Tart and Lemon Tart. Nick was excited to try the Lemon Tart. I tried one spoon and I liked it but didn’t have much time to try more because he ate it at once! LOL, I could tell he loved it! The Hazelnut Tart was delicious, I loved it! It was soft and moist and was a pleasure to eat it! They were all super tasty!
Our Thoughts On Cocotte Hoxton Square
We absolutely loved this restaurant. The food was delicious! The staff are very friendly and it is really well located. Just 5 minutes walking from Old Street. And it is always fun to walk around Shoreditch! Lots of Walls of pretty wall paint around.
The food was DELICIOUS. The chicken was one of the best I have tried and all the sides and sauces were really yummy. The desserts were very tasty so as you can see we can highly recommend this restaurant so if you are in London near Hoxton or Notting Hill please stop by as you won’t be disappointed.
Or if you perhaps work near those areas they do Deliveroo so it could be a nice meal to eat in the office or a yummy treat for an office meal with work team on a Friday! If you try them please let me know if you like them too!
Have you visited Cocotte before? Are you a chicken lover?
*Disclosure: We were invited to go to Cocotte at Hoxton to sample their menu in exchange for an Instagram Post and hosting a Giveaway there but because we liked it very much, we also decided to do a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thanks for stopping by,
Love you all ❤️
