Not a long ago we received the fantastic Kinetic Sand from Spin Master to review and we were very excited to test it at home. We have played with modelling sand before but nothing like this one. We have had lots of hours of fun playing with this set.
For all of you that don’t know what Kinetic Sand is, it is a squeezable sand that you won’t want to put down once you have it in your hands! Apparently, it contains 98% sand, 2% Polymers and 100% of fun! So you can pull it, shape it and mould it, to create incredible sand art.
When we received the box, the first thing I noticed is that it says that it is for kids aged 3 plus. I was worried about Sienna as she is only two years old. Aware of this, I let her play but under my close supervision.
The set comes with 1lb of sand, 3 moulds (a star, a castle and a crab), a beach tool, and a sand tray to play in. The colour of the sand we got was a bright intense blue. I actually like that it was not the typical colour of sand as it adds much more fun to the play.
At the beginning. Bella and I thought that the sand would be bright in a dark room but then we realised that this was not the case, LOL! I don’t know why we had that impression in the first place.
The good thing about this sand is that it sticks to itself and not to the fingers so it was much easier to clean up and store after play. The feeling, while you are playing with the sand through your fingers, is amazing. It was super relaxing and actually quite therapeutic!
It is amazing how it moves and melts right before your eyes. It flows through your fingers just like real sand but the difference is that it leaves them completely dry. However, when you press it together, it sticks to itself and keeps its shape! It is really a lot of fun.
Bella really liked playing with the Kinetic Sand. She was making lots of different things but one of them was to make lots of mini balls which she then used to attack her sister. Apparently this was a hilarious game for both of them. For me the attacking part didn’t sound very nice, LOL.
I like that my girls were able to use their creative skills so then they were able to create anything they wanted and keep changing it over and over. Also, it was great to find out that the sand never dries out. The sand is wheat, gluten and casen free.
The only problem that I have is that my little Sienna didn’t understand that she should keep all the sand inside the tray. She loved it but was constantly throwing the sand every where other than the tray causing a little chaos. The sand was getting all over the floor. However, its good to know Kinetic Sand is actually easy to clean and pickup as it sticks together well.
The sand is reusable but you should store it inside a resealable bag or closed container for it to last much longer. This set is available to buy from Argos, Toys R Us, Asda, Smyths and Amazon amongst others.
This is definitely a great gift for Christmas to buy for your kids or to give to a child. I’m sure whoever receives it will be very happy to play with it.
Have you bought Kinetic Sand? Do you like it? What do you think of it? Do you like this set? Please leave a comment below as I would love to read what you think.
*Disclosure: I received the Kinetic Sand set for the purposes of this review. However, all my thoughts and opinions are my own.
