Christmas Surprises from Orchard Toys is a fun game that your little ones will love to spend time with around the Christmas Holidays, although they can play with it all year around really!! 🙂
We are now Official Testers of Orchard Toys and because of that we are incredibly lucky to receive games to review. This time we were sent the Christmas Surprises game which we have been playing at home with Bella.
Review
This game is basically two games in one as the game board is reversible. Each player has their own game board, and on one side you have Santa who needs help to with finding different shaped presents for his sack. On the reverse side you have a Christmas tree which requires decorating with different coloured baubles.
The box that we received contained 4 reversible game boards, 24 coloured baubles, 24 presents and two dice (one for each game). The game is aimed at children aged 3-6 and for 2-4 players. Bella is 5 and she had lots of fun playing it. Maybe she is a little bit old for it but she enjoyed rolling the dice and putting the pieces in the correct places.
Game One: Help Santa find the toys by matching the shapes
You have to roll the dice (which has shapes on) and for the shape you roll you need to find a corresponding present (using the wrapping paper side) and place it on the shape of your game board until you complete all the shapes. Once Santa’s sack is complete you then turn over the presents revealing what they are. Finding out what the presents are is such a nice surprise. This is where the game gets the name Christmas Surprises from. It adds an extra element of surprise and excitement!
Game Two: Colour matching
You need to match the coloured baubles to the tree. You have to roll the dice (colours on) and then the colour you get from the dice you then need to find a bauble matching that colour and place on the game board until it is all complete.
