Peter Rabbit at Willows Activity Farm

amomentwithfranca · 2 April 2016 · 41 Comments

You may have seen my recent post about the Easter Egg Hunt we did with the girls at Willows Activity Farm in St Albans. As part of our visit we had a little sneak preview of the brand new Peter Rabbit Adventure Playground that is now open to the public.

With an investment of over £1 million, the Peter Rabbit Adventure Playground has been under construction since last year. The playground is centred on the much-loved stars of the animated CBeebies series ‘Peter Rabbit’. It is the first Peter Rabbit themed adventure play area of its kind.

When we visited, the playground was not quite ready for children to play but we were given a fully guided tour and preview of the attraction. The new area will include ten attractions such as Lily Bobtail Nature Discovery, Mrs Tiggy-winkle Kitchen and Mr. Bouncer Great Invention which includes state-of-the-art sensory gaming play, musical instruments in Jeremy Fisher Musical Pond, as well as traditional climbing frame adventure play equipment. Visitors can spend time finding their way through the Garden Maze and exploring the Mr. McGregor Shed.

Peter Rabbit Treehouse

Peter Rabbit Secret Treehouse

They have incorporated a 100 year old ash tree into the playground as the Peter Rabbit Secret Treehouse, where children can climb and play! How cool is that? This is a a true tribute to the values of Beatrix Potter who was passionate about the natural world.

The playground is particularly special because 2016 marks the 150th anniversary since the birth of Beatrix Potter, author of the Peter Rabbit children’s books, published by Penguin Random House. Beatrix Potter is one of the world’s best-loved children’s authors, with her most famous creation, The Tale of Peter Rabbit having sold in excess of 45 million copies globally since its initial publication in 1902. You can find a range of really nice Peter Rabbit products in their Gift Shop too. I was dying to buy some nice things.

Meeting Peter Rabbit
Willows will also be re-theming existing adventure play activities and facilities in line with Peter Rabbit, alongside a new restaurant, the Peter Rabbit Burrow Cafe, daily Peter Rabbit meet & greet appearances and shows featuring Peter Rabbit and Lily Bobtail. As you can see we got to meet Peter Rabbit himself and although Sienna didn’t want to get too close to him, both girls enjoyed the experience.
We are looking forward to go back now that the Playground is finished and fully open. We were very lucky to be given 4 more tickets so we will be going back very soon!!
For more information about The Peter Rabbit Adventure Playground, you can visit the Willows Activity Farm website, follow them on Twitter or use #Beatrix150 for all the latest updates. They are located in London Colney, near St Albans, just off junction 22 off the M25. Parking is free. You can find out full visitor information here, where you can buy your tickets online too.

What do you think? Do you like the idea of a playground like this? Will you go and visit too? Are your kids fans of the Peter Rabbit books or the CBeebies TV show? Leave me a comment as I would love to know what your thoughts.

*Disclaimer: we were invited to Willows Activity Farm for a special sneak preview of The Peter Rabbit Adventure Playground and to also enjoy what the rest of the farm has to offer for the whole family, in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Thanks for stopping by,

Love you all ❤️

I don’t know about the kids, but I would love the adventure playground! I used to love Beatrix Potter when I was younger! I bet Dot would love this when she’s older 🙂

This looks like a great playground. It’s a bit far from us but the attention to detail and different areas look like they make a really magical experience. Will bear it in mind if we’re ever round that way! #KCACOLS

What a great idea for a childrens attraction/play area. It really is quite unique, and I like the concept. I almost wish our little one was more into Peter Rabbit so that we could take her. But I think we would probably be more interested that she would! It looks lovely though and I bet it makes a great day out for families 🙂 Love discovering new places like this through blogging, so thanks for sharing it! Emily #KCACOLS

Harry loves Peter Rabbit at the moment. On a normal day my name is Benjamin and when I do something naughty I am Mr McGregor! So I read through this hoping it would be nearer to me – Up North! Gutted when I read it wasn’t. Oh well, might do it as a stop over instead as it sounds a great day out. #KCACOLS

We spent many happy days at Willows Farm as it is fairly close to us. Lily and her friends and cousins have had the most fabulous times there. Peter Rabbit looks amazing and there have certainly been many changes since we were last there. They have a fabulous Halloween theme there during the October half-term and their Christmas Grotto was always one of our favourites. I would put it on the ‘must visit’ at Christmas list. They do it beautifully. Ours are all getting a bit too big now #kcacols
