I was so delighted to be given the opportunity to review the latest children’s book, Quack and Daisy by the author Aileen Stewart. She is an American writer that lives in Ohio, USA. This is her 3rd book for children.
My eldest daughter Bella who is now 5 years old is now much better with her reading. She is so curious about books and reading that she is always asking for more books. We recently went to join our local library, which had reopened after being rebuilt, and she borrowed 3 books which she wanted to read immediately after we arrived home. One of the things that she asks for every night before she goes to bed is for Daddy to read her a book. This is a Daddy – daughter moment which they enjoy a lot. It is their special moment!
When we told her that we have a new book for her to read she was very excited and wanted to have story time with Daddy straight away. This is so cute to watch! When Daddy started reading the book to her, she was very interested and engaged in the story. She adores cats (we have one at home called Kiyan) and she loves ducks too (last year, her reception class looked after some baby ducklings for a few weeks) so all the ingredients were there for this to definitely be a good story for her.
It is is a very cute story with 2 main characters, Quack, a duckling and Daisy, a kitten. The story tells of the friendship that Quack and Daisy develop which had some problems along the way due to being very different animals but in the end this did not matter. We learnt from the book that we don’t need to adapt to what other people like and that we should be ourselves and enjoy what we have in common with each other. We can’t ask others to do what they are not good at. The real friendships are the ones where we love and understand each other as exactly as we are regardless of our differences and can enjoy the things we do like together. In this case they both loved the Meadow. It is such a lovely message.
As soon as I got the PDF copy I was very impressed with the quality of the illustrations. They are beautifully drawn and definitely eye catching. Bella loves them too – they were big, clear and so colourful! What else can you ask for in a children’s book! It has definitely earned its rightful place on our special shelf for books!
There is also an audio book that can be downloaded when you purchase the book. The book costs £8.99 in the UK which is an excellent price for what you are getting. The book will be released on September 29, 2015 but you can already pre-order the paperback from Amazon. Please follow the link below.
The author has created some free resources where your kids can do some free activities called Fun with Aileen that goes along with the story of the book. What a fun and interesting thing to do. I’m sure Bella will love to do that!
I hope that your kids enjoy reading this cute book as much as my daughter did!
Thanks for stopping by,
Love you all ❤️
