Scooting Back To School with Start-Rite Shoes

amomentwithfranca · 4 August 2017 · 14 Comments

We are almost half way through the summer holidays and it won’t be long before Bella is back to school again. She will be in Year 3! Time really flies, right? During the last term of Year 2, we were contacted by Start-Rite to review a pair of their latest shoes from their new ‘back to school’ range. I absolutely love Start-Rite shoes, they are fantastic and one of the few brands I used to buy for Bella when she was little. Now Sienna gets all Bella’s shoes because they are so durable she can still enjoy them! Anyway, I got very excited and I was so looking forward to reviewing their shoes.

Scooting Back To School with Start-Rite Shoes

The idea was to test their shoes during the last term and give our feedback after. Not only that, but they also sent us a Micro Sprite Scooter (£99.95) to test with the shoes! They wanted us to confirm that their shoes are sturdy enough to use with the scooter to go to school! It’s a better option than driving and more fun than walking!

From the options in the range, Bella chose Princess Elza, Black Patent Girls Riptape School Shoes (Price £47.99). These shoes are gorgeous. I love the look of the black patent. It is so shiny.

See below their main features:

  • Lightweight, flexible patent school shoes
  • Scuff resistant toe protection to help shoes look good for longer
  • Riptape fastening for secure fit & ease of getting on/off
  • Padded ankle for extra comfort & support
  • Breathable linings, removable insoles to keep feet fresh

When the shoes arrived, Bella couldn’t believe her luck! They were perfect for her because she is so girly! You can really appreciate the quality of these shoes straight away. They definitely look durable and perfect for active kids. Bella loves running around and climbing everywhere! These shoes not only look pretty but they also do their job perfectly well because she was able to do everything you might expect a 7-year-old to do without any problem.

Before we ordered the shoes, we had to get Bella’s shoe size. I wasn’t sure if this would be easy to do online. I know Start-rite has a precise measurement to get the proper fitting as it is very important. When we checked their website, everything was very well explained. They also have a GUIDE which was very helpful. There are 3 different ways to do the measurement. We downloaded a paper foot gauge. We printed it and followed the instructions. It was fun, easy and quick to do. We got Bella’s measurement straight away.

The shoes fit very well. She didn’t have any problems. I was very impressed with how easy it was to get a correct fit. She felt very comfortable straight away.

One of the features that stood out for me was the scuff-resistant toe protection to help the shoes to look good for longer. This is definitely a great feature. The shoes also came with 3 different charms that can be changed whenever Bella feels like it. She just needs to put it on the strap. It is fun and easy to do. Bella loves it.

Bella was also excited to try the new shoes with the scooter! It is available in 6 different patterned footplate designs. Her old scooter was a 3 wheel Micro scooter so she was really looking forward to learning how to ride a 2 wheel scooter. The Micro Sprite Scooter (£99.95) has purple stripes. It is really pretty and of course very cool. It is ideal for ages 5-12.

One of the things we like a lot is that it is foldable which makes it quicker to store and convenient to transport. This is so handy as well as having an adjustable handlebar height which is very convenient. This scooter is hard-wearing, long-lasting and easy to use.

It also has 360-degree steering. We didn’t see this on our previous scooter. Bella found this pretty cool. The only thing I would say is that despite being a lightweight scooter, having the feature to steer 360 degrees sometimes the scooter hits your body when carrying it as it won’t stop turning while carrying it. I think there must be a away to stop that but despite this minor issue, everything else was wonderful.

Scooter Accessories

We also got some accessories to go with the scooter. We received a beautiful Micro Purple Helmet (£22.95) as well as a cool scooter and helmet flower accessory in purple (£5).

OUR THOUGHTS

We are very happy with both the shoes and the Micro scooter. I know they are not necessarily cheap shoes but I am of the opinion that it is much better to invest in good school shoes which will be more durable. The scooter is a fantastic way of getting to school for our kids. It is a fun way to keep them active. The Start-rite shoes are sturdy for girls too and can take an active little one through the harsher weather months on her scooter to school.

*Disclosure: We received a pair of Start-rite and a Micro Scooter with its accessories to test at home for the purpose of this blog post. However, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thanks for stopping by,

Love you all ❤️

Lovely looking shoes, we haven’t tried Startrite just because another very well known brand has an outlet down the road! But if they are tough enough for scooting they should last a while! #KCACOLS

Sienna’s 9th birthday took an unexpected turn when she cut her thumb, and we spent some time in the ER getting a single stitch. 😢 But she’s a trooper and handled it like a champ..Despite this, we still managed at the start of that first week to soak up some sun, enjoy the pool, watch beautiful sunsets, and take in the incredible views. Evenings by the pool became our thing, creating lasting memories and a sense of calm. It wasn’t the week we had planned, but it turned out to be a week of quality family time and unwinding. ☀️🏖️.Swipe left to see our first week in pictures, and if you keep checking until the last photo, you can see Sienna’s stitch.
