So Slime Tie-Dye Kit Review

amomentwithfranca · 7 August 2020 · 132 Comments

My girls are obsessed with slime. They love it and they are always trying to make their own mixes and spend hours playing with it. I personally don’t love slime so much because I can see it everywhere in the house but I know it stimulates them and gets them entertained so I am happy for them to play with it. We recently received a new product from Canal Toys which the girls were so excited to open. It is the So Slime Tie-Dye kit which looks great so I was looking forward to seeing them playing with it.

The girls were very curious about this kit and they wanted to know how the whole process works, so they were desperate to get started with their creations mixing and adding some colour and glitter to their slime.

The good thing about this kit is that it comes with ready-made slime so they don’t need to prepare the slime which means less mess to deal with. This is for sure a great feature. All they need to do is add the scented colours and glitter.

Content

The So Slime Tie-Dye kit contained:

  • 1x transparent slime pot
  • 2x resealable transparent slime packets
  • 3x bottles of scented colours
  • 3x sachets of glitter
  • 1x stirrer
  • 1x instructions

How It Works

Getting ready

Before you start, it could be a good idea to protect the surface where you will be doing it because the colourants may stain certain surfaces and skin. We didn’t do that and had to clean the table. Also, it is important to keep the slime inside the plastic containers or sealed plastic bags to avoid them drying out.

The girls tried different colours each so they got different designs. They have scented colours to choose from: red with strawberry scent, blue with pineapple scent and yellow with a vanilla scent. It is best if you only use a little amount so you can get better bright colours. If you use too much it gets very dark.

Mixing

Stirring the colourants

Adding the glitter

Sienna’s first design

This is what happened with Sienna’s first design. She used blue and red colours but she put a lot so her design looked dark but it was still pretty. She also added the pink glitter. She enjoyed mixing her first design.

Bella is older so she followed the instructions better than Sienna and she stretched her slime a few times. You can divide the slime into 2 to make separate colours. Then you draw thin lines with the colourant on the slime surface.

The transparent slime provided is great because it is not runny which is less messy and easier to tidy after using it.

They provide a stirrer which you should use to help you to fold over the slime to trap the colourant inside. When you add the glitter you can use the stirrer to fold in the glitter too.

Stirring the colourants

Bella’s first design

Once you have mixed them all, then slowly stretch the slime. This way the colours transform into a tie-dye effect! The results are very cool!

Both very pleased with their creations

My girls tried different combinations of colours and glitter creating a few different designs. They absolutely loved the results.

The glitter was a little bit messy because it comes in a sachet instead of a pot so once you open it then it’s not possible to close and easily keep for later. What we did was to pour the glitter into empty pots that we previously had. This was helpful.

Our Thoughts

Bella’s second design

Sienna’s second design

The girls had a really fun afternoon playing with the So Slime Tie-Dye Kit. They loved discovering the new colours that were appearing from their slimes. They were gorgeous. We all loved it! The girls were very pleased with their creations. They put them safely in pots with lids so they were able to play with them any time they fancy.

There are a few So Slime kits available but this one is easier to use and overall less messy than other kits we have tried before. The price for the So Slime Tie-Dye Kit is £10. You can purchase the So Slime Tie-Dye kit from all good toy shops such as Amazon.

Do your kids love to play with slime too? What do you think of this kit?

They’re so obsessed with slime – it’s weird. We have tonnes of it that my youngest makes at the good mum’s house. This slack mum refuses to buy the super expensive glue! Maybe I should just get a kit…#KCACOLS

Oh boy! My girls are obsessed with slime too…infact I have to hide my glue now for my craft projects or my youngest just grabs them to make slime.. lol
I am not a big fan of slime. We have had instances when it was stuck to clothes, hair and it was not fun taking them out..:D
But for kids it does look like fun..she keeps asking if she can make more slime.. looking at her excitement, I do give in sometime and let her make some..:)

Kids love tie dye. As a teacher I’ve done it many times, and this looks like a cleaner way to do it. Perfect .

It would really bug me that the blue colour is pineapple scented
Looks like a fun activity and the slime looks quite sturdy so perhaps not too messy.
