Thai Kosai Massage Therapy Review

amomentwithfranca · 5 February 2016 · 225 Comments

Being a Stay at Home Mum is not easy, in fact it is hard work. You have to take care of your kids 24/7 and also be sure that your house is in a perfect state too. On top of this I have the hours I put in to blogging. Overseeing it all is really tiring and it’s no wonder that my body is aching all the time and my muscles are tense. I have an accumulation of stress as my tasks for the day get bigger and bigger every day. I have been in need of a deep and relaxing massage for a long time. Therefore, I was delighted when I was contacted by Thai Kosai, a Massage Therapy salon. They invited me to go to their salon and have a 1hr massage.

Thai Kosai Review & Giveaway FI

Thai Kosai is located in Toynbee Street which is a short walk from Liverpool Street station, near Spitalfields market in London. They are also within 300 metres of Aldgate East underground station. If you work in the City or in Central London this would be ideal to stop by and have a massage before you go back home or even during your lunch break.

When I arrived I was happily surprised with the place as I didn’t know what to expect of course. My first impression was that I had been transported to Thailand. I have never been to Thailand but I just felt that I was there whilst I was at Thai Kosai. I hope I’m making sense, lol. The whole decoration was very traditional. It was such a lovely and warming place. Thai Kosai is run by a lovely couple, Kanjana who is from Thailand and Chris who is British. They were both waiting for me when I arrived, which I thought that was lovely.

Kanjana asked me what type of massage I would like from the different types of massages that they offer.

Thai Aromatherapy Massage (30 mins: £35 / 60 mins: £60 / 90 mins: £90)

This is a blissful full-body oil massage focused on pure relaxation. They use a combination of aromatic oils carefully selected by their trained aromatherapists to relax or stimulate the senses. This treatment relieves stress and fatigue, and lifts the mood.

Thai Traditional Massage ( 30 mins: £35 / 60 mins: £60 / 90 mins: £90)

This treatment uses techniques drawn from ‘Nuad Thai’ – roughly translated as ‘Thai Yoga’. The massage focuses on specific pressure points and also employs some gentle stretching. Generally no oil is used in this treatment. If you prefer a ‘stationary’ and more relaxing treatment they recommend a Thai Aromatherapy massage.

Deep Tissue Massage (30 mins: £35 / 60 mins: £60 / 90 mins: £90)

Deep tissue massage targets deeper layers of muscle tissue and so can be beneficial in releasing chronic tension in the muscles. The technique is similar to Swedish massage. Softer pressure can be applied if you would like a more relaxing experience.

Head, Neck & Shoulder Massage (30 mins: £35 / 60 mins: £60)

A build-up of stress and tension can often cause neck and shoulder stiffness and headaches. Their head, neck and shoulder treatment is the perfect remedy!

Foot Massage (20 mins: £35 / 45 mins: £60)

You can give your feet some pampering with their refreshing foot massage. Although they only work on your feet and lower legs, where their therapists apply gentle pressure to the reflex points in your feet, this treatment eases tension in your whole body.

Four Hands Massage (60 mins: £120 / 90 mins: £180)

The four hands massage is a deep-relaxation massage performed by two therapists simultaneously. Essentially you experience two full body massages at the same time. If you really want to be pampered then this may be the treatment for you!

I really wanted something very relaxing that could potentially send me to sleep. The more relaxing one was the first one: Thai Aromatherapy Massage so I chose this one. I was then asked if I would like something to drink and taken to one of their rooms. They have four massage rooms across their two floors, one upstairs and three downstairs. I was taken to room number 2, which was beautiful with lots of Thai decorations. Kanjana asked me to change into some disposable underwear. She then left me to get ready, explaining that someone else would be coming shortly to do the massage.

When I was ready, someone knocked at the door asking for my permission to come in. She was my masseuse for the hour. She was so lovely and she always ask me if I was okay and asked my permission to carry on. The massage was lovely and I really enjoyed it. As expected, I did end up falling asleep a little bit and that was very relaxing. For the first time in ages I managed to forget about my girls and enjoying some nice “me time”. The masseuse used her fingers, palms and forearms to gently apply the appropriate pressure to muscles and pressure points. The pressure is enough to work out muscle tension, but she didn’t target deeper layers of muscle which was perfect for me.

I had a lovely time and I was treated really nicely by the staff. If you fancy a massage and you don’t know where to go, I recommend you to try this place as you will not regret it. If you would like to book an appointment you could do this online here. You can also find Thai Kosai on Facebook and Twitter.

Have you heard of Thai Kosai before? Do you like the idea of having a massage after work or perhaps during your lunch break? What type of massages do you like? Have you tried a Thai Massage before? Please leave a comment as I would love to read what your thoughts are.

*Disclaimer: I was kindly given a 1 hour complimentary massage in exchange for an honest review. The contents of this post reflects my honest opinion.

Thanks for stopping by,

Love you all ❤️

Just reading about massages makes me feel more relaxed. What a lovely looking salon. We’re up in London a couple of times before the summer so fingers crossed I’ll be able to leave the girls with Mr TB for an hour and have a relaxing massage 😉 #KCACOLS

Oh Wow I am super jealous. I would love nothing more than a massage right now. I am always super tense due to the anxiety but also so sore with heaving the kids about and my fibromyalgia flaring up. Infact I might have to treat myself and get one booked! Thanks for hosting! #KCACOLS

I wish I wasn’t in the States – bit far to go 😉 In all seriousness, I’ve always been curious about massages but I’m body-shy so I never go. For some reason I have it in my head that only young people with perfect bodies get massages. I really do have to get over that, because the sound of an aromatherapy massage is heaven.

Looks like a lovely, relaxing place. I really hate being massaged (weird, I know!), but OH has been going on about wanting one for ages as he is having a lot of trouble with his back and shoulder muscles. #KCACOLS

Sounds amazing Franca! I am really struggling with the juggling act at the moment – and desperately need a massage like this but it is so hard as I have no one to look after Arthur during the week on the days I am not working! Before I fell pregnant I was seeing an osteopath weekly because of a back injury so I really need to make the effort to go before it gets really bad again! Looks lovely and hope you feel more rested now X #kcacols

Oh wow this sounds amazing! Reading this I almost feel sleepy ha! The last time I had a massage was when I was pregnant, so it seems an age ago. I’m kicking myself that I didn’t plan something like this for a Valentines Day treat! I would definitely be entering to win this if I lived in London, the place looks lovely xx #KCACOLS
