Royal Circle Views and Pre-show Vibes

The Unfriend - Royal Circle

The adventure continued as we ascended to the Royal Circle, treated to a spectacular view of the stage that promised a night filled with laughter. Before the show, we hit the bar for some pre-show sips, setting the tone for a lively and vibrant evening.

The Unfriend: A Hilarious Exploration of Modern Relationships

The Unfriend - Ticket

Written by Steven Moffat and directed by Mark Gatiss, “The Unfriend” takes the audience on a rollercoaster of laughter and introspection. Set in the digital age, the play delves into the complexities of modern relationships, social media, and the impact of technology on our connections with others.

At the centre of the comedic storm is the brilliant Lee Mack, known for his razor-sharp wit and impeccable timing. Mack brings his unique comedic flair to the character, navigating the challenges of love and friendship in the age of “unfriending” and online etiquette. The supporting cast, equally skilled in their craft, adds layers of hilarity and heart to this captivating production.

The Plot Unveiled: Navigating Love in the Digital Era

The Unfriend - Nick & I at the Theatre

Married Brits Peter (comedic talent Lee Mack from Not Going Out) and Debbie (Sarah Alexander of Coupling fame) encounter American Elsa, from Denver, Colorado (portrayed by Frances Barber), during a cruise. Elsa proves to be excessively intrusive, latching onto them with unwavering intensity. Several months later, they extend an invitation to Elsa to stay with them in their home, alongside their two adolescent children. However, just before her arrival, Debbie stumbles upon the unsettling revelation that Elsa is, in fact, a serial killer. Suspicions arise, connecting her to the demise of nearly everyone in her own family. Despite their efforts to coax her departure, Peter and Debbie find themselves in a predicament, as their innate politeness prevents them from ejecting a potential mass murderer from their residence.

Cast Performances

The Unfriend - Cast

Lee Mack’s charisma and comedic genius dominate the stage, but the supporting cast is equally deserving of praise. Each actor brings a unique energy to the production, creating a harmonious ensemble that keeps the audience engaged from start to finish. The chemistry between the cast members is palpable, enhancing the overall enjoyment of this theatrical gem.
