Tredwells & Matilda The Musical – Celebrating Their New Partnership

amomentwithfranca · 28 May 2019 · 24 Comments

Last Sunday, Bella, Bella’s friend and I went to a lovely event. We went to have a delicious meal at Tredwells in Convent Garden. And straight after we went to watch Matilda The Musical. We were so excited to celebrate the new partnership between Tredwells and Matilda the Musical.

Tredwells X Matilda

Tredwells is 2 minutes away from Cambridge Theatre where Matilda is showing and 5 minutes away from Leicester Square Station. So it is very well located for this new partnership. Until 31st August 2019, a bespoke food and cocktail menu inspired by the famous Roald Dahl classic will be on offer

Travelling to Leicester Square Station

This exciting partnership allows theatre lovers to purchase an exclusive package from £72.50 for one ticket and a two-course meal, and from £77.50 for a three-course meal. The unique menu features a selection of delicious mains, desserts and non-alcoholic cocktails for the children alongside mouth-watering cocktails for adults.

Arriving At Tredwells

When we arrived we loved their entrance. It was decorated with gorgeous flowers and looked very pretty. We then were taken to their Mezzanine and got a lovely seat for 4.

They showed us their special Matilde Menu and the girls ordered Magnificent meatballs, tomato sauce served with a vegetable pot of crazy Cornish potatoes, perky peas and bravo broccoli. The girls absolutely loved this dish. Bella is very fussy with food and she really liked it.

I ordered Lamb chops, beetroot, tahini Verde, mint served with Cornish new potatoes, dill pickle aioli. OMG, this meal was delicious. The lamb chops were tender and so tasty. And the new potatoes were so yummy. I also ordered a virgin drink which was a Mint & Apple Fizz. It was lovely. Very refreshing which was perfect for the occasion.

We then ordered our desserts. The girls ordered the Simply delicious salted caramel soft serve which they make themselves. They had this option for kids to go to the kitchen and prepare their own dessert. So they served the ice cream and also added the honeycomb to it. It was fun and different for the girls.

For my dessert, I ordered ‘Chouxnut’, coffee, marsala, mascarpone which was amazing. I really enjoyed it and ate it all! I can highly recommend this menu, especially the dishes we tried as they were delicious.

At the restaurant, we bumped into Vicki from Honest Mum and her family. It was lovely to have a chat with her. So then, after our meal, we walked with them 2 minutes away to Cambridge Theatre to watch Matilda.

Watching Matilda

The girls were super excited. Bella and I watched this show in 2016 with my sister but it was so long ago so she was really looking forward to watching it again. We were given stalls seats so we were very close to the stage which was amazing.

The show lasts around 2.5 hours and has an interval. The cast is amazing, super talented. Especially the little girls that were doing the main role of Matilda. I even got emotional at the end because I couldn’t believe how good she was. The standing ovation was very well deserved!

That was our day in Covent Garden attending this special event. We absolutely loved it! It is a great experience for kids and adults. So if you are thinking of watching this show I would definitely recommend you to pair it with a meal at Tredwells. It is the perfect match and you will have a delicious meal.

Have you watched Matilda The Musical before? What do you think of this partnership between Tredwells and Matilda?

*Disclosure: We were invited to eat at Tredwells and then watch Matilda The Musical after for the purpose of this review. However, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thanks for stopping by,

Love you all ❤️

We just went to see Matilda for the first time in Bristol this week – we LOVED it! We had a drive straight from school to get there and a meal before hand would have been ideal . I will certainly look for a deal like this if we come to London to see a show. #KCACOLS

So pleased you had a great time. What a good idea for a theatre and restaurant to enter a partnership in this way. Trapesing around London looking for a restaurant to eat at, either before or after the theatre, is a bit of a pain, especially with tired children. This solves that problem very nicely!

I must admit we’ve never taken the kids to the theatre. We do go to the cinema, but the theatre has never been something we have been able to do. Sadly there just hasn’t been anything near us. 🙁
Matilda sounds like something super fun the kids would like! 😀 #KCACOLS
