Wicked Musical London Review

Despite having seen the show before, each performance feels like a brand new adventure, thanks to the talented cast. The atmosphere in the theatre was amazing, the stage design was breath-taking, and the music was fantastic. I couldn’t help but sing along to iconic songs like “Defying Gravity,” “Popular,” and “For Good.”

Wicked is a musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman. It is based on the 1995 Gregory Maguire novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West. The musical tells the story of Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, and Glinda, the Good Witch of the North, and how their friendship was tested as they navigated the political and social upheaval of Oz.

Wicked has been a huge success since it premiered in 2003. It has won three Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and has been seen by over 55 million people worldwide. The musical is currently playing in London at the Apollo Victoria Theatre.

What is the storyline of Wicked?

“Wicked” takes us on an extraordinary journey to the Land of Oz, offering a fresh perspective on the story of “The Wizard of Oz.” The musical explores the untold story of the Witches of Oz, focusing on the unlikely friendship between the misunderstood Elphaba, the future Wicked Witch of the West, and the popular Glinda, the Good Witch of the North. This imaginative prequel delves into the events leading up to Dorothy’s arrival, unveiling a web of intrigue, romance, and self-discovery.

Why is Wicked the Musical so popular?

There are many reasons why Wicked is so popular but the widespread appeal of “Wicked” can probably be attributed to its unique storyline, unforgettable music, and its ability to connect with audiences of every generation. The musical unravels the tale of Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, and her unexpected bond with Glinda, the Good Witch.

Thoughts on Wicked Musical London

The cast is phenomenal. The two leads, Elphaba and Glinda, were incredible and brought the characters to life. I must say that Alexia Khadime has an amazing voice. The supporting cast is also excellent, and they all give outstanding performances.

The production values are top-notch. The sets, costumes, and special effects are all amazing, and they help to bring the world of Oz to life.
This show is an absolute must-see, and we were blown away by the incredible cast! The story is engaging and thought-provoking. Wicked gives us a new perspective on the characters from The Wizard of Oz, and it challenges us to think about good and evil in a new way. We highly recommend catching this enchanting performance. Be sure to check out Official London Theatre for fabulous deals on this show and many others. Watch until the end of the reel for a glimpse of the incredible atmosphere!
