Have you ever been away for Valentine’s Day? As parents, it is hard to be able to take holidays or short trips away without the children isn’t it, even just for one night. Nick and I don’t manage to get away on our own that much as we love to take the girls on family holidays but we have been on some press trips alone in the past. With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, I thought it would be nice to look at some romantic holiday destinations for Nick and me to be able to spend some quality time alone together whilst Bella and Sienna have fun staying with family.
We are actually super excited to be visiting Rhodes in June this year with Jet2 for a week away, just the two of us to celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary. I think it will be so romantic being able to relax on the beach and watch the sunset together as we celebrate our wedding anniversary. Jet2 fly from 9 different airports in the UK to many different countries and cities around the world. For us, the easiest airports to travel form are London Stanstead, Birmingham or the East Midlands if travelling from Nick’s parents.
With so many different destinations to choose from, I have picked my top 5 romantic holiday destinations with Jet2 for those looking to grab a last minute getaway for Valentine’s Day this year or for those looking to plan ahead for a romantic trip away!
My Top 5 Romantic Holiday Destinations
I cannot wait to visit as I have heard it is a beautiful island to visit. We can spend our time relaxing on the beach as well as being able to explore some of the histories of the island too.
Visit Dubrovnik, Croatia on the Adriatic Sea and explore all the culture and heritage the city has to offer. Fans of Game of Thrones can visit filming locations in Dubrovnik and Lokrum Island or you can take a walking excursion to see the beauty of the city and learn more about its history. This could be a lovely place for Nick and me to explore together.
Like romantic Spain, these days Ibiza isn’t just for young people looking to party, there are so many beautiful places on the island to discover and explore. Whether you are looking for a quiet romantic break on the quiet side of Ibiza where you relax on the beach or around a pool soaking up or gorgeous weather, or you are looking to get out and explore. I think it is a lovely romantic holiday destination in the sun.
We have never been to Turkey before, but it sounds like a great place to spend a romantic break away. You could relax in the waters of The Blue Lagoon or soak up the sun on the beautiful coastline before taking in a spa day at a mud spa. I think it sounds lovely and would love to visit one day.
Venice is the ultimate romantic getaway destination don’t you think? With so much to see and explore we could have such a great trip here just the two of us. Aside from the famous canals, who wouldn’t want a gondola ride, you can watch the sunset from Rialto Bridge or climb the Campanile Di San Marco!
Are you looking at romantic holiday destinations? Where would you like to visit with your loved one for a holiday?

We just went to Bora Bora for our 20th wedding anniversary – that was pretty special. I liked the Maldives too. But realistically, compared to Australia (which is new-ish), everywhere seems exotic and romantic….so we can go pretty much anywhere in the world and it’s enchanting. #KCACOLS
Oh that is definitely special! I would love to go there! I remember my parents visiting there and they loved it! 🙂 x
Some great locations. We never get away as a couple anymore but pre-kids we did go to Venice and it was stunning. For a romantic weekend I love city breaks in Europe, stay in a nice hotel, see the sites and have great food. I miss romantic weekends away. #KCACOLS
They are the best aren’t them! So excited for Rhodes! 🙂 x

I haven’t been to any of these destinations, though I’ve visited other Greek islands as well as Turkey (on a day trip from the Greek island of Samos) and other parts of Italy (Rome/Napoli area). The Mediterranean is generally beautiful and I love the food in Italy and Greece.
Nowadays, we couldn’t go away without our son, and I don’t think I’d really want to either. We don’t really have a budget for holidays, but we love exploring places locally to us. I’d also love to venture to other parts of the UK, so that’s what we’ll be planning for as soon as our budget allows it 😉 x
Yes the Mediterranean is gorgeous! Would love to visit them all! Love travelling in the UK or outside the UK! As long as we are on the move I am happy! 😉 xx
The photos are gorgeous! I would like to visit Venice but my husband went there while in the military and he says it is not so nice. Is that true?
Oh not at all! It is gorgeous! You should definitely visit with your husband! It will be a completely different experience being there with your partner! Hope he changes his mind! 😉 x
We visited Rhodes for our honeymoon, which feels like a very long time ago now (almost 11 years here too!). Definitely a great option for a romantic getaway. #KCACOLS
Oh similar time than us! We went to Dubai and Seychelles! Lovely memories! 🙂 x

I’ve been to Ibiza as a child and as an adult and I really like it. Reasonably short flight time, beautiful weather and some real gems to visit. Es Cana is great for families and Cala Longa is beautiful. My hubby and I are well over due a holiday in the sun. Thanks for sharing #KCACOLS
I am counting the days for our holidays! 🙂 x

We went to Venice in Feb. It was beautiful and I definitely want to go back but I didn’t find it romantic as such, I’m a bit rubbish at being romantic thought! #KCACOLS
Lol… I thought being in the gondolas would be romantic enough! 🙂 x
I really want to go to Croatia, I’ve heard it’s amazing. My friend has been a couple of times. #kcacols
