Maybe it can be viewed positively that Valentine’s Day is during a national lockdown this year. It’s an excuse to stay home, cosy up, get a takeaway and watch a film. Oh, hang on though. Haven’t we been doing that for months already? Yes, that’s right. Most of us are done with cosying up and watching more Netflix. And if we want a glass of prosecco to round off a stressful day of home-schooling then why wait until Valentine’s? If you have kids then your day will probably go something as follows – get up, sort kids, have a walk, sort kids, go to bed.
If you are kid-free and loved up, then Valentine’s day is all yours to enjoy with the one you love. But if you’re fed up of Netflix and chill, read on for some inspiring Valentine’s Day ideas which might make your day a little less like all the others.
Breakfast in Bed
Start the day with a breakfast in bed treat. Whether it’s ordering a Maccy D’s on Uber Eats, or your favourite fry-up from your local café, do something that you wouldn’t usually do. Or perhaps your other half will get up early and make you breakfast in bed if you’re lucky. Plan something nice together and make an effort for one day. If you can, laze in bed, catch up on one of those books that have been on your “to be read” pile, and just relax. If you have the kids, perhaps aim to make heart-shaped pancakes topped with strawberries. Get the kids involved too.
A Walk with a Difference
I know, I know – another walk?! If you have a route you stick to, mix it up, walk it in reverse, take photos along the way. I bought our father-in-law a glass ball to use when taking photos. It adds an element of fun and invites you to release your creativity. Perhaps hunt for colours of the rainbow to snap while you walk. Or aim to spot all things red and pink to get you in the mood for lurve.
Have a Spa Afternoon
Even if you have kids, you could still make this a fun treat. Jump in the bath or soak hands or feet in warm water. Pop on some facemasks, paint your nails, do your make up. If you don’t have the kids then run a bath for two, light some candles and relax.
Hire a Hot Tub
It’s becoming popular to hire out hot tubs now. If you can’t be bothered with maintaining them through the year, then hire them. Google “local hot tub hire” and have a look. You might be surprised at the cost too. We hired a hot tub for three weeks over Christmas and it was bliss. And the colder it is outside, the better. There’s nothing more satisfying then striping off when it’s minus 1 out, to get into 39-degree warm water.
Champagne, Gin or Alcohol-Free Alternatives
If you’ve been partial to a wine or gin most evenings, then perhaps treat yourself to something a bit different to mark the occasion. Whether it’s splashing out on a bottle of bubbly, or possibly ditching the booze for something alcohol-free – there are so many options now. If you like Sparkling wine, you can get a lovely one from Sainsbury’s that is 0.5%. It’s light, refreshing and isn’t too sweet. And even better, no headaches the next day!
Treat Dinner
You know the score. All the supermarkets do them—the meal deal. Dine in for two. If you want to make life easy, then these meal deals are ideal for grabbing everything in one place. There are also great meal deals options even if you’re meat and dairy-free now!
What will you do this lockdown Valentine’s Day? Do you love it or loathe it?
Thanks for stopping by,
Love you all ❤️

I didn’t realise you can hire hot tubs at home, my 17yr old would love that for her birthday this summer. This valentines we dedicated the day to our little ones Cuba 9 and Coco 4 considering what the kids have been through last year. We did themed arts and crafts, too much sugar with music and dancing. They had a blast bless them xx #KCACOLS
