I recently published a review of an AEG 8000 series Washing Machine and I mentioned how excited I was to be able to review it. Well, believe it or not, we also got to review an AEG 8000 Series Heat Pump Tumble Dryer. OMG, I couldn’t believe my luck! Having the washing machine and the tumble dryer has changed my daily routine a lot as now I can put all the washed clothes straight into the dryer in one load which saves me a lot of time!
I have not owned a heat pump tumble dryer before. The one we had was a vented dryer so it has different features. The AEG 8000 series dryer is amazing. It is a condensing dryer which means that the water vapour is not vented externally as the water is collected in an internal container which is really easy to empty. However, if you don’t like the idea of having to empty the water container after a cycle, you can use the included drainage pipe to drain the water if you have an outlet nearby.

It also has Prosense Technology like the washing machine which makes you feel that you are in a completely different world in terms of dryers. This means that it has sensors that will determine the load weight and dryness and will adjust the time to dry accordingly. This is great so you save a lot of energy.
The intelligent AbsoluteCare system allows you to dry mixed fabrics together without having to worry about damage. It controls drum movements and the temperature inside during the cycle, to thoroughly and gently dry every fabric type.

You don’t need to make adjustments, but you can to certain programs such as changing the time and dryness. We have tried a few of the programmes and the clothes have come out pretty well. There were a few occasions when the clothes came out damp so I then had to extend the time. I think this is related to the type of clothes you are mixing together to dry. I have found it better when you put the same type of clothes together and the weight is even distributed. For example, if you just put shirts and light tops together in one cycle the results are better.
The bedlinen program is very good. I have tried this twice and both times the sheets came out dry and with no creases. This is another feature I wanted to mention. The anti-crease option is great. It really makes a difference. Some shirts come out like they have been ironed already. I was impressed.
You can protect your favourite knitted items too, with the handy wool programme. This uses faster spin speeds to keep clothes flat against the drum – giving the same gentle results as flat-drying. It also has a silk programme which mimics natural air drying to look after delicates during the cycle.
I thought it is very good in terms of noise. If you are not happy with the noise you can even select a mute option! Great right?
CHILD LOCK
Another important feature for families with small kids is the childproof lock. This feature is a must have. My youngest daughter is 2 years old and tries to play with the buttons all the time but this feature has helped us a lot.
ECO & CAPACITY
It has an A++ energy rating which means this dryer is very energy efficient and cost effect to run compared with other less efficient appliances. It has an 8kg drum capacity which means that it is suitable for a medium-sized home. We are a family of 4 and it is perfect for us.
VALUE FOR MONEY
It is not cheap but the price is understandable if you take into consideration all the features that it has. It comes with 2 years free warranty.
OUR THOUGHTS
This dryer is very stylish and modern, so it is a perfect match. Overall, I’m very pleased with this product. It has great features, fantastic technology and it is energy efficient. I really like this dryer and I do, of course, recommend it. So, thank you AEG for such a fantastic product!
