We were recently approached by Channel Mum and Cadbury’s Dairy Milk buttons to make a video about capturing shared everyday moments with my daughter Bella (Sienna was a bit too young for this particular campaign). It sounded like an interesting project and it’s a brand we love so we were eager to get on board. On the day we got the full brief for the project, we made plans to start filming our moments. Although the film was to be fairly short there was a lot we needed to include. Then, from nowhere Bella became very ill, after an asthma attack meant she needed urgent medical attention..
We went from thinking about very happy everyday moments we have with Bella to becoming seriously concerned with her health. It’s in these moments that whatever commitments you have with your blog or anything else for that matter, just go out the window. Nick took her to the A&E department of our local hospital in the middle of the night where fortunately, her breathing was stabilised. However, the oxygen levels in her blood meant the doctors wanted to keep her longer. This meant going on to a ward. Luckily she got her own room on the children’s ward and she was excited to be staying, rather than scared which could easily have been her reaction. It was also fortunate that one parent was able to stay with her so Nick and I took turns to stay the few nights she was there.
By Friday her health was much improved and the doctors were finally satisfied that she could go home. As we began to relax our thoughts finally began to return to our normal day to day concerns and of course the blog. Given everything that had happened we could easily have decided to abandon the Shared Moments project but somehow it suddenly seemed more relevant. It might be the perfect tonic to what we had been going through with Bella to talk about and appreciate those precious little normal every day moments we share together.
The next day, Bella was feeling much better so we asked her if she was up to filming, which she was – she was actually fed of being cooped up in the hospital room but of course we weren’t going to do anything strenuous with her either. We decided therefore to go ahead and film our special moments. The weather was great so it was nice to take a couple of shots in the park, the others we did at home – after all this is pretty much where we are for our every day moments. Anyway, after such a dramatic week we filmed and edited our little video over the weekend. It was really nice to watch back after the crazy week we had. This of course made the special moments feel so much more special.
You can see our video below:
The Memory Lane tool was fun to use and it was also very nice to see back some memories in this way. If you would also like to use this tool, goto the video and follow the instructions in the description. You can also find out there about how to win one of 5 state of the art video cameras!
What do you think about our special every day moments? What are your every day special moments with your kids? Are you going to try out the Memory Lane tool. Please leave a comment as I would love to read your thoughts.

Oh Franca, what a traumatic time you’ve been through, it must have been awful. I’m so glad that Bella is now better, and was excited about her stay in hospital. These are such special ordinary moments you have here. I am a massive fan of taking my daughter to the park, she loves it, and I hope she continues to love it as she gets older. Claire x #KCACOLS

Thank goodness Bella is ok! I think the little everyday things are special but you don’t always realise it until you get a shock like that. I love snuggle time with my kids, the 20 mins before bed when we have a cuddle and read together. Xx #KCACOLS

I’m glad that Bella recovered well. A lovely idea with the video. We’ve just had yearly photo books printed for our memories. It’s so important to capture them. The kids love looking at them as they grow older, so I think the Memory Lane idea is a great one. Thank you for sharing. Alison x #KCACOLS

Lovely to hear and see that Bella is doing well. I love your special everyday moments with her. I have lots of favourites with Big Munch who’s three years old now. 1. Walking together to nursery as she loves looking at lots of cute things on the way 2. Cuddles on the sofa, even when she’s watching some TV 3. Doing painting together – I love watching what she comes up with!
