Bloom & Wild: Letterbox Flowers Review

amomentwithfranca · 12 August 2015 · 58 Comments

I’m sure if you like to receive fresh flowers in their best bloom like me, you would love the idea that the people at Bloom & Wild have come up with. They are providing a fantastic and unique service: flowers sent directly to a letterbox with just a few taps in an app on your phone.

Bloom & Wild Feature Image Collage

Bloom & Wild Final 07

Bloom & Wild are proud of their service and specifically of their easy to use mobile app. I was offered the opportunity to review one of their flower arrangements, ‘The Frances’ and to be able to go through the full experience of ordering a beautiful bouquet of flowers using their app.

I quickly grabbed my mobile and downloaded their app which is available for both iPhone and Android. I have an iPhone 6 so I downloaded the Apple App which was done in a few minutes. Upon opening it, the first thing I saw was that they were offering 7 flower arrangements to choose from: The Chelsea (£26), The Frances (£20), The Eleanor (£22), The Sofia (£24) which are Letterbox Flowers; The Aurora (£32) and The Ophelia (£35) which are Hand-Tied Flowers; and finally The Grace (£28) which are Orchids.

[URIS id=1336]

I clicked ‘The Frances’ and I was taken to a different window where they have all the information about them as well as some extra photos of this beautiful arrangement. The Frances are a bouquet of yellow and white alstroemeria, madiba and solidago, which to be completely honest with you I have never heard of, so I was even more excited and curious to see how they would look when they arrived.

I was offered different options to make this order extra special. They gave me the option of choosing to add a yummy box of Belgium Chocolates from Amelie Chocolat for £6 more or a luxury hand therapy from Crabtree & Evelyn’s Rosewater for £8 more.

I was also offered an option to do an Upgrade to a Gift Bundle where you can receive flowers each month for 3, 6 or 12 months for £50, £100 or £195 more.

[URIS id=1353]

I didn’t choose any of the extras for this order so I carried on with selecting The Frances for my order. After selecting them I was asked to select the date of the delivery, which by default will be sent by Royal Mail 1st Class. However you have the option to upgrade to have them sent Royal Mail Tracked for £3 more. This is a solution in case you don’t think the flowers will fit in the letterbox, but I didn’t choose this. Another option was to add a special message to be included with the flowers so I thought why not and included an uplifting message for myself. I chose “Hope these make your ordinary, extraordinary!”.

After this, you are taken to the payment section. You can pay using Apple Pay or just manually enter your card details. You will need to register with them in order to obtain your unique login details for future purchases. And that was it guys – the ordering experience was quick and easy, all done in a just a few quick tap, taking no more than 5 minutes. Their ordering service is really good. In general their Mobile App is very good. I was impressed so far.

After I finished my order I got a confirmation email and they also included a discount code to use for my next order. Happy times! 🙂

Now I only needed to wait for the flowers to arrive, which was to be the next day as they are also proud to announce it is a 24 hr delivery service. I was so excited to see how these flowers were going to arrive as I have never ordered letterbox Flowers before – I was very intrigued about the whole thing.

Bloom & Willd 09

As promised, the next day my flowers arrived during the morning! The postman knocked my door. I knew that I was not going to experience the delivery through my letterbox as I live in a flat so the post area is downstairs and the boxes are small. That didn’t matter to me as I was just happy to receive my flowers at my door.

Bloom & Wild Final 8

The flowers arrived in a well protected box. When I opened it I was so impressed with the presentation and how delicately wrapped it all was. The petals were protected with a special fine net which I thought was really good. A card came with the flowers which had a message to their customers emphasising how passionate about flowers they are. I must admit that what they said “..first class flowers, designed, packaged and sent with love” is true, you can feel it completely – so much love ;-). At the back of the card they have put photos of the different flowers that they use for their bouquets with their names. This was very useful as you learn about different flowers that you might not know otherwise.

I was also sent another card with a direct message to me welcoming me to Bloom & Wild. Then there is a short explanation of the content of your order and some tips on how to arrange your flowers as well as how to keep them alive for longer. On the other side of the card was the message I entered when I ordered the flowers. Finally, also included was a super food for the flowers (Chrysal Clear solution) which helps the flowers to last much longer.

Day 8

As soon as I started preparing my vase and placed each flower, I realised that there was a fair amount of them – it was very big. I think this could cost a lot more in other places if you have that amount of flowers. The more I was adding each individual flower to the vase, the more I was realising how beautiful the arrangement was becoming.

When I had finished, the final look was pretty good. I was so surprised with the amount of flowers. It was such a big arrangement, especially given the box they came in. I took a photo every two days to see the process of how they bloomed by the day. The latter is very important because the idea of receiving the flowers since the very early stages of their life, means that we have the opportunity to see how the flowers bloom since the moment they arrive. You are the witness of  this amazing process. This is the reason why these flowers are so special.

Bloom & Wild Collage 2

The last photo was taken yesterday which I’m showing above. I cut the ends to short them a little bit more and placed them in a different vase. Now it looks like a completely different arrangement like if I had received them today. The longevity of these flowers is amazing. Most of the flowers I have had in the past would have been dead or wiltering by now.

To summarise, I would like to say that Bloom & Wild has a fantastic postage idea, beautiful individually wrapped flowers which are always fresh and perfect. It is easy to buy using their fantastic app which is super easy to use. I would say that it is very good value for money given how many you receive as well as for how long they last. The conclusion: I LOVE IT!! ❤️

Update 25/08/2015: I was chosen as the week’s #TriedTested featured blogger for this post!

I love these and this idea. It would be a perfect git idea when you know someone usually wouldn’t be in to receive flowers at the door. And even better that you can add extra and make it a monthly gift.
I love the bunch you chose, so fresh and lovely for the spring coming. I may just keep this in mind for Mothers Day.
    Thank you,

LOVE these!! What a great idea! I love flowers that look as though they have just been picked from the garden! I’m having a few allergy issues at the minute though and having flowers in the house for my birthday last month flared them right up! I might be sticking to artificial ones for a while sadly! #KCACOLS

I’m definitely going to be checking this out. My hubby’s folks are in London and we generally send his mother flowers for holidays, and it’s always such a hassle from across the pond. I’m hoping I’ll be able to use the app 🙂

I think more companies are catching onto the idea of being able to delivery their products through the letter box as most people are unable to stay in for a delivery.

I sampled a cake from Baker Days last year and was surprised when it came through the door and was in one piece. It’s the companies that listen to what consumers want and move forward with change, that succeed.

    Thanks for hosting #KCACOLS

They look brilliant, and much more rewarding than the usual flowers by post. I’d have loved to do this review too, flowers really brighten the room and ones that looks as gorgeous as this and last as well are definitely a bonus. Thanks for sharing #kcacols

Her cough was that bad that she couldn’t sleep very well for a couple of nights. They are both much better now and back to school.. The weather hasn’t helped either. It has been so cold lately! I literally feel frozen all the time. Thankfully it is looking better atm as the temperatures are starting to rise. I decided to get my flu vaccine, so I hope it protects me from all these viruses that are going around!
