Build Your Own Plane Launcher Kit Review

amomentwithfranca · 22 October 2020 · 16 Comments

We recently received a Plane Launcher kit from Build Your Own which has launched a new range of eco-friendly toys. Sienna loves paper planes, so she was super keen to be involved. She wanted to build it despite this toy being targeted to older kids, 8 years and above. We were happy she was super enthusiastic about it so we let her be involved but we made sure we were there to help her.

Ad Gifted: We received a personalised Build You Own Plane Launcher for the purpose of this review

Build Your Own has just teamed up with Not on the High Street to offer personalised versions of their products, so we arranged for Sienna to have this Plane Launcher personalised with her name. She was so excited when we received it! She absolutely loved seeing her name there.

BUILD YOUR OWN PLANE LAUNCHER KIT

This kit contains 47 pieces and it has everything you need to slot together and build this incredible launcher. You only need to follow the detailed instructions, press out the pre-cut parts, attach the elastic bands and you’re ready to fly your planes.

Your kids can experiment with 10 different fold ‘n’ flypaper planes that you can experiment. Follow the simple instructions to create your bespoke planes, then see how their performance can be affected by combining the integrated power scale and changes to the plane’s flight dynamics.

This super plane launcher is made using sustainable cardboards and no plastics. They have created a product that is not only fun and engaging to use, but also environmentally responsible. Really happy about this initiative.

BUILD YOUR OWN PLANE LAUNCHER CONTENT

Inside the box you can see the following items:

  • 5 heavy duty printed press out sheets
  • x4 elastic bands (including 2 spares)
  • 10 fold and fly paper planes
  • 4 scoring targets
  • Instruction sheets
  • Detailed video instructions available online

BUILDING OUR PLANE LAUNCHER

This kit doesn’t need glue which is great as it is a mess-free construction. The press-out sheets were very thick and of great quality. It was easy to pop out the parts. And the printed colours were bright on both sides.

Nick enjoys building this type of toys so he was happy to help Sienna. He got a video with the instructions which were very handy as he was able to follow each stage of the way and show Sienna how to do it.

It was so interesting to see how the parts were put together to build this plane launcher. They used the elastic bands to help to build the plane launcher. It also comes with 2 spare bands.

When they finished it looked amazing! You couldn’t believe it was all made out of cardboard. So impressive! It was sturdy, so definitely a toy that will last for a long time and can be played many times.

We received 10 fold and fly paper planes. Each of them has a different shape and this will help with the speed. Some shapes were very new to us. Sienna also needed some help to build some of the paper planes.

We also got 4 scoring targets so you can test how far your plane goes.  This way if Sienna is playing with friends or against her sister, they can see who got the higher score. This definitely adds to the fun!

It comes with an integrated power scale which is helpful as they will have an idea how far the plane will go. The plane launcher is very easy to use. You hold the launcher with one hand and with the other hand you pull the handle way back and then you let it go.

Each plane will perform differently so its speed will vary. It is so much fun to see how far each plane goes. We haven’t tried it outside yet as we don’t have a garden but we will take it out for more play soon.

PRICE & WHERE TO BUY

The Build Your Own Plane Launcher has an RRP of £16.99 and you can buy it from their website or Amazon. If you would like it personalised, you can buy it from Not On The High Street for £18.99. This could be a really lovely Christmas gift.

As I mentioned above the Build Your Own Plane Launcher is suitable for kids age 8 and over. Within their new range, you can also get a Microscope and a Telescope kit.

OUR THOUGHTS

This is such a great toy to have. I love that is mess free as you don’t need glue. It was a lot of fun for Sienna to build it with daddy and see the end result. I just have to highlight again how impressed I am that it is a plastic-free toy. It only uses cardboard which is such a great initiative for a brand. It is great that it comes with a QR code so you can scan it and then be taken to their instructions. The video with the instructions is very helpful.

It is not only of amazing quality but it is also educational. The Build Your Own Plane Launcher ticks all the boxes when you are looking to buy a new toy. This is definitely a great toy for your kids. They will enjoy building it and then playing with it alone or with friends.

Do your kids also love paper planes? What do you think of this plane launcher?

Looks like she had a lot of fun building the launcher. Thanks for the great gift idea. Although I’m definitely aiming for ‘mostly handmade’ I definitely need few ‘to buy’ ideas #KCACOLS

Here are couple of handmade ideas that are easy to DIY:

This looks great I live that there is no glue and with 47 pieces I reckon it would keep mine entertained for a while. Which is always a win. #kcacols
