Family Summer Fashion

amomentwithfranca · 4 June 2020 · 24 Comments

As the summer season approaches, now is a great time to start looking at your family’s wardrobe to make sure everyone has a good variety of outfits that are up to date with the trends and appropriate for the hotter days to come. Babies and toddlers especially grow at a significant rate and grow out of their clothes in what seems like a blink of an eye.

The best way to start adding to your summer wardrobe is by catching sales in preparation for the next season when stores need to get rid of inventory, and of course, budget-friendly boutiques. If you’re looking for a place to start looking, here are a few ideas for the fashion-forward family.

For the baby

Summer onesies are the best option since they’re comfortable for your baby and affordable for parents. To make a fashion statement, baby rompers for boys and girls come in many different styles and cuts. The best thing about onesies and rompers for babies is that they can be worn out or to stay home.

What you decide to put under your baby’s onesie is also just as important. Cloth diapers vs disposable diapers are all about preference. However, if you’re wanting to give your baby a break from disposable diapers for more breathable material, cloth diapers are a great way to make sure that he is comfortable during warmer days. Specifically for babies who aren’t walking yet and are used to lying or sitting on their bums all day.

For little girls

If you’ve got a toddler or a little girl the best pieces of clothing for that age group are summer dresses for little girls. With Fiery Scarlet, Biscay Green, and Coral Pink being in the top seven biggest colour trends of summer for 2020, you’re sure to find a variety of dresses in these colours.

Loose-fitting dresses like a twirl or casual cotton midi cut allow your little one to stay cool all day, while still being fashionable as she plays. The key is to find casual dresses that are comfortable for her to wear throughout the season and that are versatile enough to use for staying in or going out.

For little boys

Boys would live in shorts and a t-shirt day in and day out if they could. That’s why shopping for their summer outfits is easy. When shopping for shorts, the best style is the pull-up ones that don’t have any zippers or buttons to mess with and keeps your little boy comfortable while sitting or playing.

Shorts such as jogger shorts are relaxed through the hip and thigh and have an elastic waistband. While they are similar to a pair of sweat shorts, joggers are lighter in material so they are more breathable for playing outside in hotter temperatures. For a dressier look, pair shorts with a nice pair of sneakers and a fancier top. To go casual, some kick around shoes and a plain t-shirt will keep them comfy throughout the day.

For Mums

Casual dresses for women are always in style, especially if you’re working from home. Dresses are a great way to throw something on quickly without having to spend a lot of time putting an outfit together. You can spend the day casually at home barefoot or with your favourite slip-on sandals.

You can also dress it up by wearing a fancier pair of shoes and accessorizing your dress with a headband, a summer hat, or jewellery, perfect for a date night or meetings with clients and co-workers.

For Dads

Like the saying goes, “Like father, like son”, which means dad probably prefers to casually wear a pair of shorts and t-shirt throughout the day. With many offices moving forward with a more relaxed dress code, dad can even wear his shorts to work. Of course, it has to be done properly.

Knee-length shorts, with a nice pair of shoes that require socks, and a button-up shirt make the outfit look more professional and put together. If wearing shorts to more professional settings, stay away from pairing shorts with a t-shirt, hat, or any type of open-toe shoe.

When shopping online, make sure that you read the material information. The more stretchy and lightweight the material is, the more breathable and comfortable you and your family will be.

Are you ready for the summer season?

It’s such a shame that there’s no real point in spending a lot of money of summer outfits this year when they’re only going to be worn in the garden!

Wish I could get nicer summer clothes. I’m over weight, so they all look silly on me.

I loved dressing my daughter in rompers when she was a baby, and now I put her in gorgeous summer dresses or skirts. That is, if it is ever warm enough in the UK hehe. For myself I have a variety of dresses that can be layered with jumpers, cardigans, tights etc. for when the weather in unpredictable. And if a dress can be dressed up and down with different shoes and accessories then that is a total win! #KCACOLS
