Healthier Kid Friendly Home

amomentwithfranca · 8 June 2017 · Leave a Comment

Creating a safe, healthy home seems like a simple task on the surface, but you can easily become overwhelmed as you learn more about the potential dangers of common home chemicals. BPA plastics, cleaning products with toxic ingredients, unhealthy hand soaps, and phthalate-laden air fresheners are a few of the top chemical threats lurking in the aisles at your local store.

Healthier Kid Friendly Home

This infographic, which was first syndicated by Climatic Conditioning Co., Inc. offers a straightforward approach to understanding these toxins and replacing them with healthier alternatives.

You may already know that BPA in plastics can cause brain issues and behavior problems in young children. This infographic includes a clear, simple method for knowing which plastics to avoid and which ones to use instead, based on their recycling numbers. The list of home cleaning chemicals to avoid is also clear and concise. Replace those toxic cleaners with gentler alternatives like vinegar and baking soda to keep your home clean without endangering your family.

Phthalates, which are known to be hormone disrupters and carcinogens, are common in household air fresheners and other scented products. Keep your home fresh by eliminating odors at their source and by replacing your HVAC filters regularly instead. Also, throw out scented hand soaps that could contain phthalates, as well as antibacterial soaps that promote drug-resistant strains of illness. Teach your kids to wash their hands properly, so they can eliminate germs using gentler products. Check out the infographic for more details on which toxins to watch for and what alternatives to use instead.

What do you think of this infographic? Did you find it useful?
