How To Keep Your Home Warm With Blinds And Curtains

amomentwithfranca · 22 September 2019 · 8 Comments

Winter is coming, and this year, it’s expected to be a cold one. That’s right, the UK is expected to have the coldest winter in 30 years as the ‘Beast from the East’ returns with a vengeance. While the thought of leaving our homes is probably filling us with dread, have you thought about how cold it could get in your home?

How To Keep Your Home Warm With Blinds And Curtains

Keeping our homes warm this year is pivotal, and it can be done through blinds and curtains from the likes of Swift Direct Blinds – but how? Find out a little more below.

Thermal Curtains

When it comes to keeping the heat in through the use of curtains, the most obvious option is to use thermal curtains. These help to save money on bills, and the thermal lined curtains will help to retain the warmth within your rooms, preventing the heat from escaping through the windows. A great investment, these also work in the opposite way when it’s too warm outside. Ensuring that your home is the perfect warmth all year round.

Close at Night

The problem with the heat in your home is it can escape through windows if they aren’t sealed properly, or could be that you have single glazed windows. You may not even know these gaps are there. But, in winter, a good and easy way to keep the heat in if you don’t have thermal curtains is to simply keep your curtains shut to stop the heat escaping.

Double Up

If you have blinds and curtains, then keeping both of these closed will go even further to helping you not only shut out the world but keeping the warmth inside your home. This should help to retain even more heat and keep your rooms at that optimum heat of 18.5 degrees.

Door Curtains

While we often pay a lot of attention to our windows, heat can just as easily escape through the doors of our homes too. So, rather than use a draught excluder, why not opt for a door curtain? These work harder than traditional excluders, as they work to seal all the gaps around the door and not just the ones at the bottom. They’ll also make your doors look extra fancy.

Be Mindful

Speaking of looking fancy, make sure you buy these curtains, whether they be door curtains or thermal curtains, or an accompanying blind, that’ll match your room. Also, ensure you go for cosier colours, as this will go a long way to helping you feel much warmer through those colder months.

So, don’t be a victim of the cold this year and block it out, while making your home look a little more fabulous at the same time.

When we moved a year ago, we decided to get rid of all the curtains so I took about six pairs to the charity shop and replaced them all with blinds, they are so much easier to clean and don’t seem to pick up as much dust.

I replaced some old blinds with thermal blinds a while ago. Heavy curtains are hard to beat for warmth. It’s wise investing in good blinds and curtains to reduce heat loss.
