5 Innovative Ways to Remodel Your Kitchen

amomentwithfranca · 26 September 2019 · 11 Comments

Looking for sleek and stylish upgrades to make to your new home? Have you thought to remodel your kitchen? It is a good place to start as this is such an important part of the home and somewhere that you will spend a lot of time. Additionally, there are many superb upgrades that you can make to this area which can transform the space and entire home, so it really feels like your own.

5 Innovative Ways to Remodel Your Kitchen

5 Innovative Ways to Remodel Your Kitchen

Breakfast Bar

Adding a breakfast bar is a great idea because this can turn the kitchen into a social area and somewhere that you can bond with family and friends over food as it provides a casual dining area. The cook is often hidden away in the kitchen but with a breakfast bar you can spend time together and it provides another surface for yourself when you are cooking. A breakfast bar is a great use of space as it won’t take up too much room like a large dining table would do.

Bar Stools

Bar Stools in the Kitchen

Leading on from this, bar stools around a breakfast bar are a smart move because this encourages people to sit down and allows them to enjoy their food at the breakfast bar or simply a nice spot where they can have a coffee in the morning while they read the paper or enjoy a cup of tea. Places like Cox & Cox have a range of stylish bar stools which will look great in any kitchen.

Paint the Cabinets

Paint the Kitchen Cabinets

One of the easiest and most affordable ways to transform your kitchen is simply to paint the cabinets. New cabinets can cost a fortune but old cabinets can easily become faded and drab after a while – freshen them up with a bold new colour to completely change the space. Give your cabinets a shine or a polish (if wooden) as this is another cost-effective way to bring life back to your old cabinets. Also, changing the kitchen doors is another way to get your kitchen looking gorgeous again.

Lighting

Lighting can completely change any space and set the tone for the room. Try and create a well-planned kitchen lighting system that sets the mood for cooking, eating and guest entertaining. Experiment with different types of lighting to breathe new life into the space and add style – try playing with ambient, task and accent lighting for a complete feel to the space.

Decorative Touches

Decorative Touches in the kitchen

The kitchen is primarily a functional space but it should also be somewhere stylish and a reflection of your personality which is why decorative touches are so important and can change how you feel about the kitchen. Items like a fruit bowl, fresh herbs and tomatoes can add colour and life to the kitchen as well as serve a purpose.

These are a few of the best ways to upgrade your kitchen and add elegance to this important space in the home. The kitchen is the heart of the home which means that it needs to be a functional area but also one which is a reflection of your personality and somewhere that will impress any guests that you have over. Love the breakfast stools & bar idea & wish I could do that but in my very narrow galley kitchen that isn’t going to happen.

It’s definitely nice to add some decorative touches to the kitchen. We’ve recently added some food themed artwork to ours. #kcacols

We painted our kitchen cabinets sometime back and just the paint can make so much difference.

Great ideas here. We’re on the look out for some new stools for our breakfast bar. We only have two and our (three) boys fight over them EVERY day, despite there being a kitchen table half a metre behind them #KCACOLS

Having painted cupboards before I have to say I’d avoid that in the future, it was a lot of effort for not the greatest finish. I think breakfast bars can transform a space though and there are so many great bar stool designs around, I love industrial style ones.

Funnily enough we are doing a kitchen revamp and we need to change a couple of bits to give it a little something. We’ve painted the walls, changed the shelf and added a new clock. Next on the list is lighting.
