Lands’ End New Family Collection

amomentwithfranca · 9 October 2015 · 17 Comments

Bella and I were invited to be part of an amazing event. Lands’ End, a well-known American clothing brand, organised a dream event for us and a group of parenting bloggers. We were invited to their HQ offices in Oakham, Rutland for a fun day of styling, games, lunch and a boat trip!!! Isn’t it amazing? 😉

Lands' End Event FI correct

We had a whole day full of entertainment. It was really fun for Bella. I was so happy to be able to have a whole day to spend just with her. Since Sienna was born I haven’t had the chance to spend quality time just with Bella and this event was the perfect opportunity for us.

Lands' End Event 1

Lands' End Event 2

We were told to go to Euston to take a bus which would take us to Oakham, where Lands’ End’s HQ is based. Bella and I were very excited. On the bus we met Tiya who is a Joe Bloggers PR and organiser of the event. She was so nice. Another parent blogger, Rishi from Mummy and the cuties also joined us on the bus with her daughter. I hadn’t met her before so it was nice to have a chat and we kept each other company for the duration of the journey which was about 2 hrs. Rishi is lovely and I’m so happy to have met her and her daughter.

When we arrived, the people from Lands’ End where waiting for us and were very nice. After registering, we were taken upstairs where the presentation was going to be. They had a lovely table full of delicious sandwiches and a yummy variation of food for nibbling. They also had a table full of amazing cupcakes that were beautifully decorated with the name of the brand.

Our kids were taken to another room where they were able to have some fun, play some games, have face painting, watch some movies, play with balloons, Jenga, Wii, etc. The face painting was amazing. It looked so professional – I loved all the details. The idea was to get the kids entertained so we mummy bloggers were able to sit down in the board room to hear all about the brand.

Who are Lands’ End

For those who don’t know, Lands’ End, according to wikipedia, are an American clothing retailer based in Wisconsin that specialise in casual clothing, luggage, and home furnishings. The majority of Lands’ End’s business is conducted through mail order and internet sales, but the company also runs more than a dozen retail operations, primarily in the Upper Midwest along with international stores in the UK, Germany, Japan, France and Austria.

[URIS id=2451]

History

Lands’ End began as a sailboat equipment company in 1963 in Chicago. It was founded by Gary Comer. As the business became successful, it expanded into general clothing and home furnishings, and moved to Dodgeville, Wisconsin in 1978. The company is named from its sailboat heritage, after Lands End, but the misplaced apostrophe in the company name was a typographical error that Comer could not afford to change, as promotional materials had already been printed.

In 2002, Sears bought the company In addition to operating a mail order and online business and Lands’ End Inlet stores, Sears offered a Lands’ End clothing line in a large number of its retail stores. In November 2009, Lands’ End launched a new line called Lands’ End Canvas, which offers a more fashion-oriented selection of casual clothing for men and women. In 2012, the company formed an “online partnership” with the UK’s Debenhams and House of Fraser department stores.

Lands' End Event 10

Gary Comer’s working ethos has remained the same until now (information from Lands’ End website)

1. Make it as good as you can.
2. Improve it whenever possible.
3. Always, always price it fairly.
4. Guarantee it for life.
(or as Gary first put it ‘Guarantee it. Period.’)

They are well known for their durability as they will be able to pass generations as their clothes will last very well for years. We were also told that they were the first company to offer their customers a free 0800 number to contact them. Apparently they were the first ones to provide a life time guarantee. Gary Comer was of the idea that if you are not happy at all, you will be able to just return it. Simple as that! Isn’t that great?

NEW COLLECTIONS FOR WOMEN AND MEN

[URIS id=2462]

Their new collection for women is beautiful! I like the colours a lot. They are going basically for creams, yellows, reds, blues and purples. The designs are all very classic and wearable. Apparently their sizes are generous so if you are normally medium, you could fit in a small size. I tried a coat that was a small size (I’m normally medium) and it fitted perfectly so I agree with that statement. Of course you should always check their size guides before buying online or try items first if buying at a store. Their policy about changing and returning is great so you won’t have a problem. Their customer services are fantastic so they will always take care of you which is a plus when buying, especially online

[URIS id=2472]

I was also impressed with the mens collection as I liked a lot the colours too. Normally guys are afraid to wear too many colours as it can take them outside of their comfort zone. They usually go for the typical brown, black, blue, grey or white, but the collection also included dusty straw (kind of yellow), sundried tomato (kind of bright red), dark green, etc which are trendy colours for Autumn. I always choose more colourful clothes for my husband Nick. I could definitely choose several outfits for him from this collection. Their collection was classic but at the same time trendy. I love it!

Lands' End Coat

I was in love with this coat! I tried it and it fitted so nice! It is so light, you can’t even realise that you are wearing it. You don’t need to take it off when you go to your car as it is so light that you can drive with it. It is also very comfortable and it warms you very well. This is for sure an item that has caught my eye and I’m going to have to give some clues to my husband so he can give it to me as a present for Christmas! LOL 😉

Lands' Ends 3

After the presentation we were given some time to go around and check their clothes. I was here with Zena from Zena’s Suitcase having a look at this gorgeous Faux Fur Snood. It was incredibly soft and so fashionable – I tried it too and I liked it a lot! They also have the same snood but in a Merlot colour. I added a couple of photos of both of them in the slideshows.

NEW KIDS COLLECTION

[URIS id=2484]

Their new Kid’s Collection was also really colourful and wearable. This new collection is for the new school term so our kids can wear really durable, strong and affordable outdoor jackets. They have a super cute Halloween decoration for their kids collection and it all looks fantastic. Their jackets are really soft inside which will keep our kids super warm this season. Their shoe collection is really nice too.

[URIS id=2499]

Bella was loving it. She went around the whole display and wanted to try a fair amount of outfits. It was so cute to watch her getting so excited.

Bella was given this gorgeous Waterproof Squall Jacket in a raspberry sorbet colour. She really loved it. It is a fabulous jacket and it has been a life saver for us as Bella has left her school branded jacket at school a few times and this jacket has been the substitute one that has protected her from the cold!! It is so cosy inside. It is perfect for the roughest weather like heavy rain, snow, strong winds, etc. If Bella didn’t need to wear a compulsory school jacket she would definitely wear this jacket every day for sure. I can highly recommend it to you guys. It is really worth it.

2015-10-06_071257734_36A21_iOS

And here she is wearing the jacket to school when she forgot her school one. Doesn’t she look amazing!! So pretty!! I don’t know who is more in love with this jacket, Bella or me? LOL.

GOODY BAG

[URIS id=2509]

The people at Lands’ End couldn’t have been more generous with us this day as they also gave us the most amazing goody bag I have ever had. I was so impressed with it! The quality of their products is A1. It included the softest throw ever,  black leather gloves with cahsmere inside, a usb card, their latest catalogues and 2 yummy cupcakes! So pleased with all. THANK YOU SO MUCH LANDS’ END!!

BOAT TRIP

2015-09-26_135529973_D9587_iOS

It really was a fantastic day out wasn’t it? As it was my first event I think I was rather quiet and kept to myself, I was rather scared by it all. 🙂 I did love the quality of Lands’ End products and am actually planning on buying a new coat!

✨Happy Friday✨.Did you have a good week? Unf ✨Happy Friday✨.Did you have a good week? Unfortunately, it wasn’t that good for us because the girls have been under the weather. Bella started first with a sore throat and high fever for a few days and then when Bella got better, Sienna started! She got a horrible cough but no temperature. Her cough was that bad that she couldn’t sleep very well for a couple of nights. They are both much better now and back to school.. The weather hasn’t helped either. It has been so cold lately! I literally feel frozen all the time. Thankfully it is looking better atm as the temperatures are starting to rise. I decided to get my flu vaccine, so I hope it protects me from all these viruses that are going around! Have you had the flu vaccine too? .On another note, I went yesterday to a parents meeting about GCSE options for Bella. I can’t believe she needs to think about it already ahead of Year 9. The time really goes fast.
