Hola chicos, now that our kids are surrounded by technology and they are constantly playing with tablets and ipads I have been thinking about the importance of getting my girls interested in exploring our world too. Our kids are naturally little explorers and they are curious and want to learn so it is important to us parents to encourage and bring that type of opportunity to them. I have recently come across the fantastic Little House of Science where you can find exactly that: a place for children to learn, experiment, explore & play!
Children are natural born scientists and it is never too early to start educating them about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Both girls and boys are curious to learn about the world around them and how things work. Little House of Science foster this curiosity and re-enforce STEM related subjects in a fun, exciting and practical way so that the children can connect with science from a very early age.
Little House of Science was founded by three women in London in 2014, (Veronika Covington, Liliana Crachilova and Elisabeth Keck), who saw the ever growing demand from children wanting to learn more about how the world works! Children who love science and are inspired by it. Denise O’Mara is joining the team, having spent her career and education in science and engineering. They want children to explore and find answers to the questions about their world around them such as how plants breathe, the universe, its galaxies and stars to name a few.
They have created a safe and fun environment for kids to learn about science and all the questions around it. An environment which is active, full of project based learning, hands-on and stimulating. Their main goal is to ensure the kids go away with inspiration and enthusiasm about learning and wanting to know more about nature and the supportive facts. They are stimulating and encouraging kids to get that spark needed for the next generation of scientists, but their main aim is to provide a foundation for youngsters where after each session, they will have gone home knowing a little bit more about our world and how things work. How wonderful is that?
They run classes suitable for children from 6 months to 11 years. This is just fantastic as I have not seen this before. It is really exciting to be able to take Sienna who is only 22 months old to these fun classes. I’m sure she will absolute love them!
Little Discovery is for mum and baby taking their first steps together in learning about the fascinating world where there is so much to learn and experience. Designed for 6-24 months.
They take a new topic every week and explore and investigate it through all of our senses. The children discover new ideas, shapes, colours, textures and sounds of nature. They are also introduced and familiarised with classical music, which has been shown to boost concentration and self-discipline in children.
Little Maths Club offers toddlers aged 2-4 year old to learn about a new topic each week and how numbers are everywhere, along with music, games, shapes and colours!
The classes cover a new topic each week and the activities are designed to help build our child’s confidence with quantities and numbers from 1 to 10 (and building on). Each class offers a combination of music, shapes and colours
Little Science offers weekly in-school and after school science workshops for children aged 3-8 years old.
These classes help lay the foundation for your child’s future academic progress. These preschool science classes are designed to assist in these critical stages for a child’s cognitive development – helping them to process information, solve problems and make decisions.
Big Science offers weekly in-school and after school science workshops for children aged 8-11 years of age. These classes will be the next step for the Young Scientists and offers weekly project based science workshops. They expand on everything that is offered in the classes for the younger kids.
You can find Little House of Science’s classes in various locations within London and very soon in the Hampshire area as well! They have a timetable showing all their summer, autumn and holiday workshops that are available. They also offer science Parties that include many fun activities for kids, mind blowing scientific experiments and demonstrations which will make your child’s birthday an unforgettable experience.
They also offer educational franchise opportunities for those passionate about science and perfect for those who also love working with children.
