I don’t normally talk about too personal topics on my blog, but this one really excites me because it has definitely changed the way I handle my period. Trust me, this has been a game-changer for me! I have always struggled with long and heavy periods, but since I had my girls and reached my forties, my periods became worse. So when I was approached by Modibodi, a sustainable, reusable, leak-proof period underwear, to try their underwear, I straight away said yes.
About Modibodi Period Proof Underwear
Modibodi, who is based in Australia, has developed exclusive patented technologies that make up the way the underwear works, including the patented Modifier Technology™ and the patent-pending Modifier Swim Technology, to bring women all over the globe a range of leak-proof, lightweight and stylish underwear.
According to CEO and Founder, Kristy Chong “Modibodi™ gives women the freedom to live life in a fearless, sustainable and fashionable way. From periods, to discharge, to light bladder leakage and even mummy breast milk leaks, my aim was to make underwear and swimwear that was fashionable but utilised technology to offer protection and a more sustainable choice.”
How it Works
Modibodi features a three-layer component; the top layer quickly wicks away moisture, fights bacteria and stops odours. A middle layer quickly absorbs fluid and locks it away (up to 20 MLS absorbency) The third and bottom layer gives you extra leak-proof protection, ensuring you are at your most secure and confident, with no leaking through to clothes, which means total freedom.
Features
- They’re reusable.
- You can choose from 4 different absorbencies.
- Uses high-quality natural fabrics and breathable tech-savvy blends (Bamboo, Merino Perform Wool and Microfibre) with the latest in antimicrobial fibres for a soft, silky fit.
- Stain-resistant.
- Fast-drying.
- Odour free.
- Stylish.
My Thoughts on Modibodi Period Proof Underwear
Sensual Hi-Waist Bikini Heavy Overnight
I received a pair of Modibodi underwear to try at home. I got a Sensual Hi-Waist Bikini with a heavy overnight absorbency and a Classic Bikini with a light/moderate absorbency.
Classic Bikini Light Moderate
I am not going to lie, I was very hesitant at first as I wasn’t sure if it will work. I have never tried something like this before. But I was tired of running out of pads and having to deal with it every single month as well as the inevitable accidents that come from heavy periods.
And then there is the environmental aspect of disposable sanitary pads too. I also want to contribute to helping to reduce the amount of single-use products that end up in UK landfills.
I have tried them for 2 full periods now. Being in lockdown has helped a lot as I get used to wearing the period-proof underwear. I didn’t need to get out so much meaning I could properly try them and get comfortable wearing them around the house before choosing to wear them out in public.
I am blown away as to how great this product is. Firstly, I can’t believe how much it absorbs, especially the one with heavy overnight absorbency. I have not had any leaks, I cannot smell anything and it is very comfortable. And the best part it actually looks great!
How to take care of your Modibodi Garment
After using your underwear for your period, you should rinse them in cold water until the water runs clear. You should not soak it. Then put it in the washing machine in cold water. Avoid using fabric softener and do not tumble dry. You should leave your period-proof underwear to air dry. It will take longer to dry for the underwear that has heavy absorbency.
I am so happy with my Modibodi period-proof underwear that I am definitely going to get more to cover my whole period. Switching to Modibodi period-proof underwear has me feeling much more comfortable about my periods in general. I don’t dread them each month as much as I did. As I mentioned above, it really is a complete game-changer for me. I can definitely recommend you to try it too. The full range can be found at www.modibodi.co.uk with prices ranging from £15.50 to £25 for underwear collections and the swimwear starting at £72.
perfect for my wife
I think she would love it! 🙂
These would be for my daughter., so I’d have to ask her which she’d prefer.
Sounds great.
I think they’re a great idea, I’d go for the boy shorts!
They are a great idea, I would love to try the Classic Bikini Light Moderate
I don’t have periods anymore but would love to win this prize to donate to charity, to go to Romania.
Id go for the curvy collection, they look classy and mega comfy xx
I like the look of the Seam free full brief in black. I’ve not had a period in 7 years being on the injection but with lockdown happening when my injection is due, I’ve been told to go on the pill for a few months and to expect a period. Not looking forward to it to be honest!
i like the look of the boy shorts
i think they are fab and am skeptical though. i would choose the curvy collection x
I think the boy shorts look great, never tried before, would love to give them a go!
Why didn’t someone create these products years ago?! A lovely range. I like both the Classic and the Seamfree. collections.
A great alternative to disposable sanitary products! I’d probably choose classic heavy/full briefs in black if i was lucky enough to win!
I haven’t tried that particular brand, but I like anything that;s reusable. good for the environment, but also in the long run saves a ton of money 😉
A gift for my neice – sure she would be delighted – id let her choose
I think these are great would love to try these
These are a great idea! I’d go for the high waist ones myself as I find pants like that comfier. Will look to see if they suitable for teens – as my pre-teen quite daunted by thought of periods to come…
Such a wonderful ideas & wished I’d known about these when I had periods. Well done for raising awareness though, it’s fab! x
I think Modibodi are a fantastic idea and I would love to try them out. I would choose the boyshorts, thanks for the chance to win.
Fantastic idea, I’d choose the Bikini Seamfree
I experience a similar issues to the ones you discussed. I would have been sceptical about this product if I had seen it in an advertising campaign. Now, having read your review, I’d be keen to give this range a try.
I think they look great and would go for the curvy
Seems like a great product / option. Particularly when we consider the limitations of the past for dealing with a natural process.
I would choose classic full brief, black.
It seems worthwhile considering allowing this product being more locally available. Would also be worthwhile the brand / Company considering diversifying into incontinence products, and these also being made available locally :- Where they are most needed / required.
These products can impact on :- Hygiene, Health, Wellbeing, etc. Essentials.
I really like the idea of these. There is so much plastic pollution from most period products and this could realistically be the answer to period poverty. I would choose the sensual Hi-waist bikini
They sound great, I’d choose the classic full brief if I won
This would be great, especially as a more environmentally friendly option.
