Do you have a go-to item of clothing when you need a bit of a pick-me-up? When I need a confidence boost, I always head to my favourite outfits to help me feel good about myself. Body confidence is so tricky, don’t you think? Loving your body and unlearning years of learnt behaviour and thoughts can be tricky when it comes to our bodies.
In this blog post, you’ll discover my favourite items to wear when needing a confidence boost. From vibrant, bright colours to intricate detailing and subtle, understated pieces, I’ll share how these choices elevate my mood and enhance my self-assurance. Whether you’re looking for bold statement outfits or simple, elegant attire, you’ll find plenty of inspiration to help you feel your best.
My Favourite Items To Wear When Needing A Confidence Boost
And with the impact of lockdown affecting people’s confidence levels, we could all do with a bit of a pick me up, don’t you agree? I have collaborated with Joe Browns, the fun clothing and homewares retailer to look at how clothing can boost your confidence and the impact my clothes make on how I feel each day.
Everyone should feel confident to wear the clothes they want to wear and be happy in their own skin. Joe Brown conducted a survey recently that had over 13,000 responses. The survey found that 47% of recipients do not wear clothes they would like to due to a lack of body confidence. To combat this, they have launched a get your #mojoe back campaign to help you feel confident enough to wear what makes you happy.
On this note, I thought I would share with you how I dress to help me feel confident.
Bright Colours
Don’t be afraid of wearing bright colours. Colourful items make me feel happy and brighten my day. If you don’t want to wear a fully colourful outfit, include some colourful accents in your outfit, such as a bright top, jewellery, or even accessories such as a belt or handbag. Start small until you feel confident enough to include more bright colours.
I love this colourful sweater from Joe Browns, and they make me smile when I wear them.
Detailing
I love jeans. These lace-up jeans are so cute and give a fun twist on a classic clothing item, don’t you think? If bright colours are too much, go for some subtle detailing to mix things up. Wear a top tucked into your jeans or a shorter top to show off details such as this, or style your outfit around clothing featuring unique details so you can see it without it being obvious. Kind of like a little secret only you know to boost your confidence.
The ruffle detail on this black top is perfect for elevating your outfit, and it can take a simple, comfortable top and give it a little something extra.
Understated
Sometimes less is more; you don’t always need big, bright, overly detailed outfits. Something understated yet classic can have the same effect, especially if you feel low on confidence. Classic blacks are always a go-to, but the beauty of block clothing is that it can be so flattering, meaning you look good and feel good too.
Conclusion
So if you feel better in an all-black outfit, wear it with pride and confidence. Choose some well-placed accessories or jewellery to make your outfit pop or a colourful jacket over the top. Maybe you have a bright pair of boots for your black outfit. After all, comfort is key to feeling good in what you wear.
I would love to know your top tips items to wear when needing a confidence boost. What works for you?
*Disclosure: Joe Browns sent me a few clothing items from their latest collection for this blog post.

Love you all ❤️

I don’t have an item of clothing. I did always used to redye my hair in a bright colour if I wanted a boost… Now I just look at my children and think be brave and fake it if you need to. But clothing would definitely be a better plan!! You look really good and are oozing the confidence from them though.

Bright (or rather, slightly brighter than usual) colors always make me feel good too. I have this Mickey Mouse T-shirt (yes, it’s actually for adults) that I really like to wear in spring and summer and that really gives me a mood boost. As for winter clothes, I just got a green fleece vest that’s so comfy yet I also like its color. By the way, I completely agree that everyone should really be able to feel confident to wear what they want. #KCACOLS
