As I have mentioned before, I love taking photos. Wherever I go I am always with my phone in my hands trying to capture special moments of my girls, beautiful sceneries, gorgeous places, and anything that inspires me or catches my eyes. Doing this though means that I end up having thousands of pictures. So many that it is hard to keep them all on my phone. I have them all saved in different servers so I don’t lose them. I love going through them and remember all those beautiful moments but it is difficult to do that when they are spread around in different places. A year ago we received a fabulous digital frame Nixplay Seed to try out and we absolutely loved it. We have it on display in our living room and it has been the best thing we have had in years. Every time someone visits us they are always drawn to this device because they love seeing so many photos of us on display. And we love being able to have all our photos in one place.
Ad Gifted: I received a Nixplay Smart Photo Frame for the purpose of this review.
So, when Nixplay contacted us again this year to try their new Nixplay Smart Photo Frame 10.1 inch, I was super excited to try it out and add a new device in our home to display more photos of our adventures.
The Nixplay Smart Photo Frame comes in a recyclable box and this time they have added a lovely note that caught my attention. It says, “You’ve just planted a tree! For every Nixplay Smart Photo Frame purchased, we plant a tree”. I really loved seeing this as it means they are making changes to be more environmentally friendly which is fantastic!
OPENING OUR NIXPLAY SMART PHOTO FRAME
I chose a different colour for our device, so this time we received the Nixplay Smart Photo Frame in Wood Effect which I absolutely love. It looks lovely and it gives a different touch to the living room.
Inside the box you will find the following items:
- NIXPLAY Smart Photo Frame 10.1 inch
- Wall mounting screw kit and guide
- Power cable with two plug heads adapter (EU & UK)
- Infrared remote control (battery included)
- Quick start guide
The frame comes with 2 different positions (portrait or landscape). There is a cable at the back that is connected to the power cable that you will use to position the frame how you want it. I have ours in portrait position because most of my photos are taken that way. You can also hang your frame on your wall. There is a wall mounting screw it and guide to do this.
It is really easy to get started. It took me just a few minutes. I connected my Wifi first. Because I already had the Nixplay app on my phone as I downloaded it last year, this time, I only had to pair a second frame. Once paired you are able to make playlists using photos from your phone, Facebook, Instagram, Dropbox and Google Photos.
Now I have 2 frames to add different albums. This is so handy so I can have one frame showing photos of our trip to Cornwall from the last half term and the other frame showing photos from our trip to Crete from the summer.
NIXPLAY SMART PHOTO FRAME FEATURES
Like the Nixplay Seed, we can also invite friends and family so you can share the images with them. It is a lovely way to keep connected with your family. The menus are also very clear and well presented. It comes with lots of options. The frame also has a remote control which is very handy. However, you can use the app from your phone to control the device too. The frame also played movie clips shot by my iPhone which you can select with or without sound.
The quality of the images is fantastic. It has a 1280×800 HD IPS display with 16:10 aspect ratio auto-adjusts to portrait or landscape placement. You can also choose the style of the transition.
One of the features that I do like a lot which also the Nixplay Seeds has, is the motion sensor. It turns on as soon as it detects any motion so as soon as I get into the living room the screen turns on and starts displaying the photos. Also after a certain time of inactivity, it turns off. You can set the amount of time for this. It also has a sleep function.
It has 8GB of storage and it works with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, you just need to ask for the playlist you want. This is a cool feature. It is also good to know that you can share privately and securely within your family.

WHAT DO WE THINK OF OUR NIXPLAY SMART PHOTO FRAME
We love our Nixplay photo frames. They are both fantastic! I am really enjoying having 2 frames displaying different albums. I keep finding myself sitting down in the living room staring at the photos. It really makes me happy to bring all those beautiful memories back. I am trying to rotate the albums weekly so we can have different photos displaying more often.
If you are looking for a fun and easy way to share your photos instead of having them on your phone, then the Nixplay Smart Photo Frame is perfect for you. This could be a very thoughtful gift for someone special, perfect for Christmas!
Are you looking for a way to display your photos? Would you try Nixplay too?

I really love these things – we don’t have one, and as a result, it’s only fb memories that pop up to remind me of the kids when they were young. Maybe I need to change that! #KCACOLS

What a clever idea to have a motion sensor so it is only on when someone is in the room. I love that they are planting a tree for each frame bought too! #KCACOLS

This is a great way to display photos, I definitely have far too many just hiding away on my phone and PC #KCACOLS
