Pines And Needles – Another Year Choosing Our Tree

amomentwithfranca · 17 December 2017 · 13 Comments

I can’t believe that it is almost Christmas! The year has passed so quickly! My girls are so excited and counting down the days for Christmas day! It has now become a tradition for us to pick up our Christmas Tree together as a family with Pines and Needles. This is our third consecutive year choosing a real tree from Pines and Needles. If you missed it, you can read our post about when we chose our tree last Christmas.

We love Pines and Needles, their real trees are gorgeous and they really don’t drop any needles! It is so tidy and looks amazing! One of the reasons I didn’t have a real tree before was because of the work that you normally have to do as you have to keep it clean and tidy all the time. With Pines and Needles, as I mentioned before, you don’t have this problem!

When we first bought a real tree, that wasn’t from Pines and Needles, we took it home but the whole car ended up full of needles. There was also a trail of needles the whole way from the car to the house! After vacuuming to clean up the mess, it’s amazing that there were any needles left in the tree! We don’t have this problem with Pines and Needles trees, it is honestly a pleasure to have one of their real trees at home.

CHOOSING OUR TREE

Last year we were invited to attend an event while we were asked to choose our tree to then be delivered to our house. It was a fun event and we loved choosing our tree together. This year was different. We were invited to go to our nearest Pines and Needles pop-up store to choose our tree.

We decided to do this on a Sunday afternoon. We chose their Maida Vale pop-up store which was the first one they opened when Pines and Needles first started. When we arrived we saw that they were taking a delivery of new trees. They had a lot of beautiful ones.

My girls loved running around the trees. It is so much fun for them. There was a little wooden cottage (like the one they had at the event in Wimbledon last year) where you could also buy Christmas decorations as well as tiny Christmas trees. We actually got a couple of them last year, one for each of my girls and they were very cute!

The staff helping that afternoon was so nice and helpful. They are so enthusiastic about their trees that their Christmas spirit is infectious. It is a lovely atmosphere!

We asked for the same type of tree that we got last year which is The Norman Fir. We got a 4-foot tree again this year. We really like this size as it’s perfect for our living room.

One of the guys helped us to choose the best Christmas tree ever. It was gorgeous and even better than the one we got last year. It was very green! I fell in love with it from the moment he showed it to us! I immediately said, yes please, that is our 2017 Christmas tree!

The girls help him to put it inside its net. They wanted to do this last year but didn’t get the chance so this year they were super excited to help pack our tree! They did a fab job!

We also got a new base. We then organised the delivery. They kindly offered to deliver our tree the following day so we completed a delivery form. After that, everything was all sorted. We only needed to wait for our tree to be delivered the next day.

Delivery & Installation

The next day, they arrived punctually to deliver our tree. They called ahead 30 minutes beforehand to let us know they were on their way. We knew they would be delivering the tree in the night so it was good to have an exact time.

One of the things that I was super happy with this year is that they were also going to put our tree up! Last year they only delivered it and we put it up. Actually, Nick had to put it and he was never happy with the position. We then realised that the size of the base was too small but regardless we have the correct size this year. I was super excited to get them do it because I knew they were going to leave our tree looking amazing!

It was 2 guys that came and they did the job pretty quickly. I was so excited because our tree this year was gorgeous! Even more so than the one we got last year!

The girls were so happy when they saw the tree in place! The whole Christmas spirit suddenly filled our home! Now we only needed to decorate it!

Decorating Our Tree

I decided to get new decorations this year. I wanted to have a more classic style so used white lights with gold and white decorations. I ordered a new set from Amazon but they took 5 days to arrive! So, despite having our tree up early we didn’t have it decorated until just a couple of days ago! 🙁

We spent an evening decorating and it was then ready. It was actually worth the wait as I was so pleased with it! I love this classic look! What do you think? You can compare it with our decoration from last year in the video we made.

Have you had a real tree before? Was it delivered to your home? Have you heard of Pines and Needles?

*Disclosure: We were invited to pick up a Pines and Needles tree from our nearest pop-up store which was delivered to our home and installed for the purpose of this review. However, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thanks for stopping by,

Love you all ❤️

Real trees look brilliant but we always have an artificial tree as our cat tends to try to eat bits of any plant life we bring into the house

We opted for a real tree this year as my fiance said he really really wanted one as never had a real one before. We didn’t have it delivered but it’s great that there is a service that does so without having to end up with pine needles in the back of the car (beats the haribo wrappers adorning the back seat at the moment). Lovely place to visit and make a family trip out of getting the tree. We have somewhere similar to this near us too. The whole experience is great on the run up to Christmas.

Yes, the experience is different! We love the idea to let the girls choose the tree! It is more special! Pine and Needles also have the picking up service. We have not tried this before but I might this year as it seems easier if someone comes and collect the tree, 🙂 x
