We have some exciting news to tell you! We have a new visitor in our house! We are all so excited but Bella is the one that is completely over the moon! We have adopted a new scout Elf who will be with us from now until Christmas! Bella has named him Felix. I’m so excited to start a new wonderful tradition that is The Elf on the Shelf®.
For all of you that haven’t heard of this before, The Elf on the Shelf® is a scout Elf sent by Santa to check on your children. Aren’t you wondering how Santa is able to manage all his naughty and nice lists? Well this is the answer! This is exactly how Santa can find out about what is going on with our children! When a family adopts a scout Elf and gives it a name, the scout Elf receives its Christmas magic and can fly to the North Pole each night to tell Santa about all of the day’s adventures of our children. The next morning he is found in a different position in the house. There is something very important and interesting about this cute little scout Elf which is that he cannot be touched, otherwise it will lose all its magic. Oooooh!! I love magic! 😉
The cutest scout Elf with the book
Box Opened
The scout Elf is adopted by the family and stays in their home for the period before Christmas. The scout Elf then returns to the North Pole on Christmas Eve. The most amazing part, especially for my girls, is that the scout Elf will come back to us the following year. That is how it becomes the cutest Christmas family tradition ever! Hurray for that!! Ho Ho Ho!! 🙂

As soon as he visited us, we adopted him, and to make it official we went to the registration page on the The Elf on the Shelf® website and registered our scout Elf, giving him the name: Felix. HOW EXCITING!! This will give us a registration certificate and a letter from Santa!! How amazing is that, LOL! My little Bella has been so happy about the scout Elf, every morning the first thing she does after waking up is to race around looking for him! It is so cute to watch! She talks about the scout Elf all the time, telling her teachers and friends all about it at school! They are all now curious about the scout Elf and want to meet him! It makes me so happy that she is so engaged with this wonderful idea!
First morning that Bella met the scout Elf
She was so excited!! Yaaay..
She talks to him a lot. She tells him her stories of the day and also ask him questions. She is also starting to behave much better as she wants to be a good girl for Santa as she knows that he is the one that reports all the naughty and nice things that she does each day. For all of you parents that want to have well behaved children from now until Christmas, just get The Elf on the Shelf® and I promise you that your children will try their best to behave good to please their scout Elf, LOL.
Day 1 (Shelf Elf)
Day 2 (Elf on another Shelf)
Day 3 (Elf on an even higher Shelf)
Day 4 (You can’t reach me Elf)
Day 5 (Kitchen Elf)
Day 6 (Sky Elf)
Day 7 (Karaoke Elf)
Day 8 (Nosey box Elf)
Day 9 (Lampshade Elf)
Day 10 (Bookshelf Elf)
Day 11 (Cloakroom Elf)
Day 12 (Office Elf)
Day 13 (Abseiling Elf)
Since we adopted Felix , he has been flying to the North Pole and coming back the next morning showing himself in a different position. I have been taking photos of him every morning. It is so much fun! All the photos that you have just seen are from most of the days that Felix has been with us. Now to be completely honest with you there were some days that Felix stayed in the same place and there are 2 possible reasons for that: 1) reason for your children: there was a big storm in the North Pole so there was no possibility to fly there and 2) reason from parents (not enough time to deal with this or we just literally fell asleep and forgot! 😉 LOL )
The Elf on the Shelf: ‘A Christmas Tradition’ book
The Elf on the Shelf: ‘A Christmas Tradition’ book (opened)
The Elf on the Shelf® comes with a beautiful book The Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Tradition which can be used to tell your children the story about this fantastic and cute scout Elf. You can buy this set for £29.99 here and start this wonderful tradition with your children too.
Christa Pitts, Carol Aebersold & Chanda Bell
This enchanting tale was written by mother-daughter duo Carol Aebersold and Chanda Bell, and is based on their own family’s Christmas tradition. Chanda’s twin sister Christa Pitts is the one who provided the business plans that took The Elf on the Shelf® from an unknown self-published title to the top of the bestseller lists year after year. It is so nice that this beautiful story came from someone’s own family tradition!
You can also find The Elf on the Shelf® on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, and you can also browse around their boards on Pinterest.
Have you heard of The Elf on the Shelf®? Do you like this idea? Will you start your own “Elf on the Shelf” Christmas Tradition Too?

I’m so excited to do Elf on the Shelf this year – even though Marianna is far too young to know or care what it’s all about! 🙂 I bought one last year after I first heard about them because it just sounded like such a sweet idea. So ours is named McGinty and my OH and I keep making up ever more elaborate and weird backstories for him. At the moment he’s worked for every major spy agency on the planet… 😀

I can’t wait to start this tradition, perhaps next year? Is age 3 too young?? Yes, I’ve always wondered how Santa knew who deserves their new Lego sets and dolls… I love your daily pics too very sweet. I’ve seen so many friends of mine whose children adore their elf, I think they’re so cute! Thanks for hosting #kcacols

Having kids being a grinch at Christmas and saying Bah Humbug is not an option. So we do make an effort for Xmas. Having said that I don’t get Elf on a shelf at all. I bet it originated in the USA. So many Americanism make it over here to the good old uk! The way Halloween is celebrated is an American tradition, Black Friday is an American tradition, so something as strange as Elf on a shelf I bet was thought of by an americanas well. Lovely idea for those who love to go a bit OTT at Christmas! #KCACOLS

iI love the idea of doing Elf on the Shelf I just wasn’t organised enough this year, next year – and I think at 4 I will have a better chance at the elf not being named “Daddy elf” #kcacols

We started the “elf on a shelf” last year and the little ones had so much fun with it. Even my teenagers got in on it moving it and coming up with funny ideas. We brought ours out on Thanksgiving night and then I totally forgot last night to move it so I told my kids that everyone stayed up too late and that the elf couldn’t fly back to the North Pole in time. Needless to say they are all in bed early tonight…hehehehe. Such bad parents we are …NOT! Thanks again for hostessing!

Oh my god I absolutely love this post! I’ve never heard of Elf on the Shelf before but what a fantastic idea! Obviously my baby will be too young for this for a couple of years but I am going to tell my sister in law about it today as it would work wonders on my niece. I love this idea of creating family traditions and this is certainly one I am going to show my husband and bring into our family. A wonderful festive post, and gorgeous pictures. Thank you so much for sharing xxx #KCACOLS

I love Elf on the shelf. When Evie’s older we’re doing this for sure. It’s such a brilliant idea. I love that you can move it around too. It really adds to the magic xxx #kcacols

What a brilliant idea and a lovely tradition too. I love how excited Bella looks, bless her, It is good that she is behaving better because Felix is watching, I would be tempted to keep him out all year haha.xx #KCACOLS

I love Elf on the Shelf – he works great in classrooms too! Especially if he has set out and started an activity that he wants the children to get involved in that day. Maybe your elf will go through your baking cupboard one night and make something nice as a treat for your children to eat (if they eat all their dinner!) – so many possibilities, it’s a brilliant idea X #KCACOLS

Wow! such a fantastic idea…. most of the time, we tell the kids to call Santa if they’re being naughty, now there’s no need for that because elf can report everything instead, lol It must be fun watching kids looking around where the elf have landed in the morning from a trip to the North Pole. Great review and lovely photos too! #KCACOLS

I love this! Unfortunately Mikey is too old now, but I’m definite going to get an Elf in a year or two! It’ll be a great new Christmas tradition!

I have to say, I use to find this whole thing a bit creepy ‘he sees you when you’re sleeping’ haha but the idea has really grown on me – hope the kids love it this Christmas #KCACOLS

It is super fun! Bella loves it! It all worth it when you see that excited smile in her face! He doesn’t see us when we are sleeping as he is at The Pole North 😉 lol Thanks for commenting lovely, 🙂 xx

I’ve seen this before, but didn’t know where you can get one. Seriously tempted as creating Christmas traditions is great fun!

Yes I have heard of Elf on a shelf before and I like the concept of it. However if I’m completely honest I find him a little creepy *no offence*! I think that’s why we went with The Magical Elf Company instead last year. Ella and Holly absolutely love Elsa & Mistletoe their magic elves. It is basically the same as elf on a shelf but their elves are cuddly. Wishing you and your lovely family many of happy year with Felix!xx #KCACOLS

Lovely! I find the elf himself a little creepy looking (Sorry Felix! Fab name though!) but I do want to do something like this when SB is a bit older, I think she’d love it! Thanks for hosting #KCACOLS
