5 Reasons to Choose Aluminium Bi-Fold Doors

amomentwithfranca · 30 July 2016 · 10 Comments

For those who aren’t aware, put simply, a bifold is a door that slides open while its panels fold up and stack neatly against the wall – like a concertina. Bifold doors are also known as bi-folding doors, folding sliding doors, glass sliding doors and sliding room dividers. They are an alternative to the traditional sliding door. So you’ve decided you’d like Bi-Fold Doors, now you need to decide what type to get…

5 Reasons to Choose Aluminium Bi-Fold Doors

In this post I’m sharing 5 reasons why aluminium bi-fold doors are a great choice when compared to alternatives such as PVC or timber. Aluminium was only discovered 200 years ago, yet its uses today are seemingly endless, and with good reason too!

1. Increased strength

Aluminium is a great choice for bifold doors because it is stronger than PVCu or timber frames, making these frames more durable and longer lasting.

2. Slimmer Frame

The increased strength of this material means that aluminium bifold doors can be manufactured with a slimmer frame than PVC or timber frame alternatives. The benefit of this is that it allows you to see more through your bifold doors and also allows more natural light into a property.

3. Lasting Colour

Unlike timber or PVC, aluminium does not discolour, peel or rust once it has been coated. This gives your bifold aluminium doors a long lasting finish, whereas timer, for example will need to be repainted during its lifetime. If desired, you can colour aluminium to give it a more natural looking timber style effect.

4. Environmentally friendly

Aluminium bifold doors are also an environmentally friendly choice. Aluminium can be recycled indefinitely without degradation and the majority of all aluminium that has ever been produced, remains in use today. This can only be a good thing. Manufacturing from raw materials uses 95% more energy than doing so from recycled aluminium.

5. Design

I’ve already mentioned the increase strength that aluminium provides and that this allows a slimmer frame. These combined effects allow aluminium to be adapted to suit a wide range of projects. This is why many new construction projects often choose aluminium over other options. Visit the following link to find out more about available aluminium bifold door styles.

What do you think about bifold doors? What do you think about aluminium over other materials? Please leave a comment as I would love to read your thoughts.

Bi-fold doors have always given me an open sense, and I have really wanted to get them for our basement. I really like that the aluminum ones actually have increased strength. It would be really sad to have them installed, and they have them not last as long.

I appreciate this information concerning aluminum bi-fold doors. It is good to know that aluminum is a material that offers strong door frames. It would be good to have durable doors that last longer. Seeking professional help when it comes to installing these doors would be a wise choice.

We have aluminium doors too and love them. No painting, no warping and their profile is much slimmer meaning you get to see more of the garden. (Note to self: must clean the glass or I won’t be able to see any of the garden shortly!)

We’re planning a single storey extension and have been looking into getting bi fold doors. I love them and they are so effective at bringing the outdoors in, you get that al fresco feeling even when you’re inside.

Thanks for your sharing. In my opinion, one of the greatest benefits of installing aluminium bifold doors is that they are extremely easy to maintain. It is recommended that you clean your aluminium bifold doors at least once a year. Dust and grime can accumulate over time and negatively impact their performance. It is particularly important to regularly clean your doors if you live in a dusty area. So, I think it’s a good choice.

✨ Cat Cafe In London✨.📍Bella and I went t ✨ Cat Cafe In London✨.📍Bella and I went to @javawhiskersuk , a cat cafe located in @westfieldlondon . This was my present for Mother’s Day from her🌸.🌟 Before we went inside, we had to go to a separate room to wash our hands and remove our shoes..🐾 They have 2 different rooms: the Cat Lounge and the Kitten Lounge and you can choose to stay from 55 mins to 1hr 55 mins. The prices vary depending on the room you choose and the length of time..🍰 When we stepped inside the room we were greeted by a group of gorgeous kittens. We ordered (before we went inside the room) a latte and a delicious chocolate muffin with chocolate melted inside that was so good. This was served to us in the room while we were surrounded by these adorable kittens..🐱 We spent 55 mins playing and petting the kittens. They were so cute. We loved interacting with them..🥰 Their cafe is also a foster home for homeless cats so if you are looking to adopt one, this is the place to visit! They have had 230 successful adoptions already! 🙌🏻.🚨 The only downside is that you have to be over 10 years old in order to be allowed inside the rooms 😬.🐈 If you are a cat lover like us, I highly recommend you visit Java Whiskers! It is the perfect place to unwind and relax with these beautiful kittens! 🙌🏻.Have you visited a Cat Cafe before? 🐈‍⬛ .#javawhiskers #catcafe #catcafelondon #londoncafe #westfieldlondon #londondayout #daysout #thingstodoinlondon #newplaces #londonguide #lovecats😻 #catsofinstagram #catloversday #londonthingstodo #whatsonlondon

✨My Girls✨.Due to the strikes we had Sienna ✨My Girls✨.Due to the strikes we had Sienna at home yesterday and today, and Bella only today. I thought it would be very chaotic but despite it always being louder when the girls are at home, especially my youngest one, lol, we did well..Bella did school work at home today and had the afternoon free. Sienna didn’t do school work. We only asked her to carry on doing Spanish and Maths via Duolingo. She also had Spanish lessons this afternoon (every Thursday she has lessons) so both days were manageable thankfully 😍.How was it for you? Did your kids stay at home or did they go to school? .PS: let’s hope things get better for teachers. It was very hard, especially when I had to be on time for the school run! 😩.Anyway, everything feels better now! 😊.How long does it take you to be back to normal after a jetlag? ✨Peruvian Suspiro Limeño✨."Suspiro Limeño" ✨Peruvian Suspiro Limeño✨."Suspiro Limeño" is one of my favourite Peruvian desserts. When I was In Peru, I of course, made sure to have it not only once but several times 😉.This dessert is made of manjar blanco (milk, sugar, almond flour, egg yolks, vanilla) and meringue (egg whites, port, cinnamon) 😘.The history behind this dessert starts with Amparo Ayarza who was the creator. Her husband, José Gálvez Barrenechea was a poet and was the one who gave it its name. The poet called it "Suspiro de Limeña", which means, 'Sigh of a Lima lady', because it is soft and sweet like the sigh of a woman. Love this 🥰.Have you ever tried "Suspiro Limeño"? Or have you heard of it before? Would you try it? .📸 Picture taken @panchitasazoncriolla in Lima that has one of the best versions of this dessert 🙌🏻.#suspirolimeño #peruviandessert #meringue #merengue #desserttime #dessertlover #dessertpic #dessertgram #peruvianfood #cocinaperuana #gastronomiaperuana #perufood #peruviancousine #whatisfordessert #dessertsofinstagram
