If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind immersive experience in the heart of London, Sandbox VR London in Covent Garden should be top of your list. Whether you’re visiting with family, friends, or planning a unique day out, this futuristic virtual reality venue takes gaming and fun to a whole new level.
We recently visited and were genuinely blown away by how realistic, entertaining, and professionally run the experience was. Here’s everything you need to know before you go.
Sandbox VR London: A Must-Try Immersive Experience in London
What Is Sandbox VR London?
Sandbox VR is a fully immersive virtual reality experience where your real body becomes your game character. Unlike traditional VR games, this setup utilises full-body motion tracking, haptic feedback vests, and precision sensors to enable you to see and interact with your teammates just as you would in real life.
Inspired by Star Trek’s Holodeck, Sandbox VR blends cinematic effects, advanced technology, and social gameplay into one unforgettable group activity. The Covent Garden location is currently one of the most exciting things to do in central London.
What to Expect at Sandbox VR London
From the moment you arrive, everything feels futuristic. You’ll be greeted by friendly staff, get suited up with state-of-the-art equipment, and briefed on your game of choice. Each session takes place in a private VR arena that accommodates up to 6 players, making it perfect for birthdays, family outings, or group gatherings.
The actual gameplay lasts around 30 minutes, and you’ll play through a series of challenges depending on the game you choose. It’s fast-paced, active, and hilarious — expect to duck, dodge, run (a little!), and laugh a lot.
After your game, you’ll head to a viewing area where you can watch your gameplay highlights. Even better, your VR footage is emailed to you — a fun keepsake and perfect for sharing online.
Our Visit: A Personal Experience
We went as a group of six — our youngest daughter and a few friends joined us — and we chose the Squid Game experience. It’s one of the most popular options at the moment and a great intro to what Sandbox VR has to offer.
From putting on the gear to playing each mini-game as a team, everything felt smooth and professional. The equipment was easy to use and surprisingly comfortable. I didn’t expect to get a workout, but by the end, I was knackered — in the best way possible!
Watching the gameplay video afterwards was a highlight. It was both surreal and hilarious to see ourselves in action. The kids had so much fun, they were already asking to go back before we even left!
Meet Toni: The UK’s First Robotic Bartender
One of the coolest features at Sandbox VR London is Toni, the UK’s first robotic bartender. Yes — a real robot makes your drinks right in front of you!
Before or after your game, you can order from a menu of cocktails, mocktails, and soft drinks. I tried the cherry drink, and it was surprisingly good! It’s such a unique touch and adds even more to the futuristic vibe of the experience.

New Location Coming Soon
Good news if you’re not near Covent Garden — Sandbox VR is opening a brand-new venue at Westfield White City in July. This expansion means even more Londoners and visitors can experience the thrill of fully immersive virtual reality gaming.
The Westfield White City location will offer the same high-tech games, full-body tracking, and robotic bartender experience that Sandbox VR is known for. If you’re based in West London or looking for things to do near Shepherd’s Bush, keep an eye out for this exciting new launch.
