What do you feel when you go into your bedroom? Your bedroom should be your haven, a place for you to unwind, relax, and get some good quality sleep. That is unless you are a parent and your child doesn’t like to sleep. But when you go to bed, you want to feel happy and ready to get to sleep.
I have recently just redecorated my own bedroom. We now have a white and grey theme, and I feel it is much calmer already and nice and fresh to allow us to get some rest in a stylish yet well thought out room. We went for a grey wall with white units, and our room is small, so we have overhead units to store our clothing and some pictures above our bed. I am really pleased with how it turned out.
If you want to decorate your bedroom or change it up a little bit, I have some great ideas for making your bedroom your own.
1. Choose Two Colours

Natural colours or pastels are the best options for bedrooms. Bright, vivid colours are thought to be more stimulating, meaning you might not be able to get a good night’s sleep due to the ambience in the room. Whatever colours you choose, aim for a maximum of two colours that compliment each other. If you opt for darker shades, try to balance them with lighter hues, which isn’t too overwhelming.
2. Add a Gallery Wall

Your bedroom needs some of your personality, and even if you have a smaller space, you can still use the wall to hang some pictures or artwork. Above our bed, we have family pictures. Choose canvas prints or poster printing to help you create your gallery wall. Also at Bonusprint, you can find lovely ideas for Christmas like photo calendars.
3. Hang A Mirror

A mirror can really space and light into any bedroom. If your room doesn’t get a lot of sunlight, add a mirror opposite the window to make the most of the light and create a bright and airy feeling. Choose an oversized mirror to create a focal point and tie your design together easily.
4. Maximise Space
Be creative with the storage options you have if you have a smaller room. We used over bed cabinets and under-bed storage to make the most of our space. Also, our bedroom is relatively small. Shelving can give you more storage space, as can make a feature design on your wall that doubles as storage, such as hanging hats on hooks or accessories for a stylish yet practical look.
5. Buy New Accessories
Lastly, you want to choose some new bedding and accessories that match your new theme and colours. Our bedding is grey and white to match our room, so choosing colours to compliment your design and accessories can help you finish the room. Add some mood lighting such as fairy lights or lamps to add some depth to the room and soften up the room, ready for a restful night’s sleep.
Do you have any top tips for redecorating your bedroom? I would love to know how you have styled your bedroom.
