How crazy is it that we are now half way through the holidays and in a few weeks our little ones will start a new school year! My daughter Bella will start Year 2 in September Year and I can’t believe how this has happened already. The time has flown by so quickly. I still remember her first day in Reception. It was such an unforgettable moment! 🙂
She was just so cute with her school uniform and the dimples showing on her face as she was smiling! Those dimples are so adorable – and exactly like her father’s. It’s amazing how similar they can be, LOL!
She was so happy on her first day at school. I can’t say the same for me as I was feeling so emotional because, firstly, I had just given birth to Sienna only a few weeks earlier. My hormones were all over the place and I realised that my baby Bella was not a baby any more. She was just starting the first day of her school life! It was just so overwhelming, so of course I had a few tears that morning.
When it was time to pick her up that day, I was first in line waiting for her, desperate to know how her day had been. Thankfully the teachers told me that she had a great day so I was worrying for nothing. I guess we all worry a lot but I have the feeling that normally (there are exceptions of course) its more us parents that get very emotional about it.
I remember how obsessed we were with having all her school things ready on time. We were so excited about it that I think we had everything ready since June that year, LOL! I guess anyone that has been through this or is about to go through this will be able to relate to this feeling!
As I mentioned before, Bella is starting Year 2 so I have been through all of this twice already so this year it is not an emotional experience anymore as I guess ‘back to school’ is now a routine for us. Nevertheless, it is a routine that needs to be done, so it is now time to start thinking about anything she will need for when she goes back to school. I feel tired just thinking about it, LOL!
One of the things that I am excited about this year is choosing a theme for her school stationary. Not long ago we went to watch The Secret Life of Pets and Bella loved it. It has such fun characters which were so adorable, especially the cute fluffy cat that reminds me so much of our old cat, Kiyan.
I was thinking of getting all her school stationary with this theme. I was searching online to see if I can get some cool stationary for her and I found some lovely products from The Works who currently have some great discounts for all their back to school products. I was so happy to find a good list of products with this theme.
I found a pencil case, a notebook, a 10 colour pen (all in one), a couple of pencils, a colouring set, eraser and sharpener. Now I’m off to find some lunchboxes and water bottles, LOL!
Do you also have kids at school or about to start school? Are you already thinking about all the things they need? Do you normally do this as soon as school ends in July or do you wait until August to start buying everything? Leave a comment below as I would love to read what you think.
