Dry Kids Waterproof Trousers Review

amomentwithfranca · 1 September 2016 · 71 Comments

At the moment the weather is being kind with us as we have been having some great sunny days over the last month. However this is not always the case in this country. Rain is something that can happen at any time and a quick change of weather from sunny to cloudy, wet and rainy is something that we should always be prepared for. We are now getting towards the end of the summer and those rainy days will come even more often. I hate it when its raining and you want to get out of the house with your kids to explore a nice area or to just go to a nice playground. I also hate it when it has been raining lots and has then stopped but when you go out everything is still very damp and your kids clothes end up getting wet. This typically happens when you go to a playground and your kids are desperate to go on the slides or swings but they are all completely wet. It kind of ruins the whole experience of having fun with your kids in the park.

Dry Kids Waterproof Trousers Review

I was very happy to be contacted by Dry Kids to review an item from their waterproof clothing range for kids. They were keen for us to review some trousers from their latest collection. Browsing through this section I wanted to choose something that could be very useful for the girls.

Dungaree 1

When I saw that they had a selection of dungarees available I was very excited to be able to review these with my daughters. I chose Dry Kids Raspberry Unlined Dungarees for both of my girls. When we received the trousers I realised that the weather was getting better and we were starting to enjoy some sunny weather, so I asked Bella to try modelling them at home to show me how they looked. When she tried them on we realised that despite being one size down, the dungarees fitted Bella very well. Apparently they tend to come up a little bigger than usual so bear this in mind when buying these dungarees.

Bella said she felt fine in them and that they were comfy. This was good to hear as she can be very picky lately when it comes to her clothes so if she says it is comfy that means that she is very happy.

As expected, the nice weather didn’t last for too long so as soon as the weather changed to a cold, cloudy, wet and rainy day we immediately decided to test out the dungarees. Unfortunately Bella was not around with us at that time as she spent some time at her grandparents over the holiday, so I decided to test them with Sienna. It had been raining all day so it was perfect as everything was still wet.

I went to pick her up from nursery and changed her into her lovely dungarees. Like Bella, the size was one smaller than her actual size but when she tried them on they felt big so they definitely do tend to do bigger sizes. She seemed to be comfortable as she was happy running around. The legs were a little bit long but with her wellingtons on this was not a problem.

These dungarees are waterproof PU coated fabric with heat sealed seams making them perfect for totally dry outdoor play. The dungarees have a generous size so other garments can be worn underneath if required. Sienna was wearing shorts with a top underneath, so not a lot of clothes but she was comfortable. It has poppa button at the waist which was great for an ideal fit.

The material has been tested to 3000mm of hydrostatic head (how tall a column of water the fabric can hold before water starts to seep through the weave), so they are very waterproof. I also noticed that it comes with reflective stripes too for increased visibility at night and in bad weather conditions. They also have elastic ankle straps that can be worn either inside or outside of the wellies that will prevent the legs from riding up.

Finally they come with adjustable shoulder straps. This was the only thing that I was not sure about. I put the straps in the correcting fit for Sienna but as soon as it was done and after a couple of moves it was back into the previous position. It didn’t stay in the fitted position for long. I wasn’t sure if it was me not putting the straps correctly or if they were like that, so I would probably recommend them to make those straps a little bit tighter so then whatever you adjust it to, they will stay that way. If your kids move around a lot like my girls, you want the straps to stay in the adjusted position.

Other than that, I thought these dungarees were really good. They kept Sienna dry all the time that she was out and about in them sitting on the wet floor/grass so I was very pleased with that. I’m sure they will be very practical during the winter months. I will be keeping them on hand so we are prepared in advance. 😉

These dungarees have an RPP of £14.99 which is a fantastic price. You can find more about them on Twitter and Facebook.

Have you heard of Dry Kids before? What do you think of their unlined dungarees? Do you have something similar at home? Please leave a comment below as I would love to hear what you think.

*Disclaimer: I received two pairs of DRY KIDS RASPBERRY UNLINED DUNGAREES for each of my daughters for the purpose of this review but all opinions and thoughts are my own.

Thanks for stopping by,

Love you all ❤️

I haven’t heard or seen these before but have often commented to friends that this is exactly the type of clothing that should be more widely available for little’uns and with Autumn soon on it’s way would make an essential and welcome addition to the wardrobe. x

I havent heard of Drykids before, the dungarees look like they would be fab for playing in the snow, its easy to waterproof the kids up top but I don’t see so much for the bottom so they’d be great

No, I hadn’t heard of them before but as Nana to three little ones who cannot stay indoors for any period of time they do sound exactly what my daughter-in-law could do with. The two girls particularly seem to find every wet patch going so these would get well used. I love the design which prevents any midriff gaps keeping them cosy.I shall certainly be passing on the information thank you.
