It is this time of the year where we start thinking about Christmas and what gifts to buy. I don’t know about you, but I always have problems deciding what to buy for my dad and my father in law (and in general, any older gentlemen in the family). While I was searching for interesting ideas I put together a list of potentially great gifts, so I thought why not share it here as it might help you, possibly saving you some time when searching.
I like browsing the internet for ideas as it is easier than window shopping in real life. I also prefer to buy online as it is quicker and can definitely save you some money as its easier to see exactly how much you are spending. I think nowadays, it is much easier to buy men’s clothing online than at the shopping centre. Do you also agree?
Anyway, below is the list of items I came up with after browsing online:
1. Happy Socks from John Lewis – £28.00
Men always need socks. I always find Nick’s socks everywhere in the house as he tends to take them off all the time when he is at home and so loses pairs very easily. He has the biggest pile of unpaired socks that I have ever seen! I don’t know if you have the same issue but I have the feeling all men are like that, LOL! For that reason giving socks as a gift should be the perfect present! 😉 This Happy Socks box looks great. They are different and the black and gray colour makes it easy to wear. I also like the individual designs.
2. Pegasus Shetland Cable Sweater from Chums – from £30.00
There is nothing better than a nice sweater for the winter. Everybody will agree that a sweater is a super practical and useful gift. It will be welcomed with open arms! I love this shetland cable crew neck sweater from Chums. It looks very smart and I like the idea of having the option of 3 different colours so you can choose. I really love the pattern of the knitting too.
3. Barbour Lifestyle Men’s Scarf and Glove Gift Box from Country Attire – £49.95
This is a great gift. A scarf and gloves set is, of course, a classic gift for Christmas. A new set is also always welcome in the winter. This scarf and gloves box set works with the trademark Barbour tartan, making for a reputable set for any collection. It is packaged beautifully in a chic box which makes this box an ideal gift for a loved one.
4. Ted Baker Shoe Shine Kit from ASOS – £48.00
I remember when I was a child watching my dad cleaning his shoes. He has always been very careful to have his shoes looking shiny clean. I always loved this from my dad. He even had a special chair where he used to put his shoe shining kit. I don’t know if he still has it but I have that image pretty clear in my head. Nick also likes cleaning his shoes often and it is the same with my father in law so I think this kit can be super handy. Of course, what better than Ted Baker. As I have mentioned in the past, Ted Baker is a brand that I love so this kit is even better in my eyes because I know it will be of high quality.
5. Jonny’s Sister Personalised Original Newspaper from Not On The High Street – £52.00
I thought this gift was very cool! I have not seen something like this before. Your gift will be an authentic national newspaper from your chosen bygone date, presented in a gift box with a certificate. This is a unique and treasured gift. So, what was making the news on your actual day of birth or wedding day? By giving an authentic newspaper from that day, you will be giving to your loved one a bit of their life history. What do you think?
There are several websites where you can buy branded products with great discounts like Love the Sales, among others. It is worth to start checking online as you will be surprised at the amount of things that you can find and also its better to start ticking off your to-do list for Christmas already! Of course, you get to have fun shopping too! 😉
I hope that this list is of help and that any of these suggested ideas could be one of your next Christmas gifts for any of the older gentlemen in your family! 🙂
What do you think of these products? Which one caught your eyes the most? Have you started buying your gifts for Christmas yet? Do you also prefer to do your shopping online? Please leave a comment below as I would love to read what you think.

I bought dad a very similar newspaper a few years ago and he loved it. Love the Barbour set, could definitely see him wearing that.
