Lighthouse Clothing Review

amomentwithfranca · 25 September 2018 · 25 Comments

I love discovering new brands and trying new clothing ranges. I am always searching new trends and new brands. So when Lighthouse Clothing got in touch with us to try some of their clothes for the whole family, we were very excited! I really love doing family shoots showing lovely outfits so we were all looking forward to it.

Lighthouse Clothing Review

Lighthouse Clothing are based in Belfast and have only been around for a couple of years so are relatively new. They have a small but lovely range of clothes and are committed to creating well-crafted clothing with a strong sense of style.

They have the philosophy that the most memorable moments in life are often the simplest ones which I absolutely agree with. They encourage the wanderer and sea lover in us all to step outside and embrace those unhurried moments, shared with those who matter. I really love that. Making the right fabric choices are a big part of their process. With a variety of 100% cotton, cotton-rich and peach finished polyester fabrics they have developed the best materials for each price point.

We got the opportunity to choose an item for each of us, so I chose a lovely Parka, Nick chose a smart shirt and the girls both got the same colourful dress as lately they love wearing the same clothes! It is actually cute to see them in the same outfits!

My choice: Paige Parka – Midnight

I was looking for a Parka for the windy and rainy days of the Autumn season. I wanted something practical and useful that looked good too. I think I found this with this jacket! I really like the Midnight colour. It is different.

It is beautifully made in cotton rich fabric. It is effortlessly stylish, and with a soft touch feel. Another important thing to highlight is that this 3/4 length coat is also waterproof, windproof and breathable.

With a soft cotton blend lining and contrast herringbone piping, this Parka combines practical styling with attention to detail. See some features below:

  • Highly waterproof (5000mm)
  • Highly breathable (5000gsm)
  • Windproof
  • Fully taped seams
  • Cotton rich outer fabric with Teflon coating
  • Soft, cotton blend, striped oxford lining with contrast herringbone piping
  • Cotton lined, adjustable integral hood
  • Two-way front zip with leather puller
  • Two front patch pockets with side entry
  • Zipped internal pocket
  • Zipped cuff detail
  • 3⁄4 length coat
  • Outer fabric: 70% Cotton, 30% Nylon. Fabric Weight: 200g
  • Lining Composition: 65% Polyester, 35% Cotton
  • Machine washable

It has so many lovely details which make the jacket even more special. I really like it. I love wearing it and it has been very useful especially lately now it is starting to be cooler with the change of weather. Of course, I won’t be able to wear it during the super cold winter season but it has been perfect to have it during all the spring, summer and now Autumn season.

Just one little downside for me is the size. I am normally a size 12. It fits fine but I feel that I could be better with a little more room around my hips. When I close it, it feels a little bit tight but the good news is that because it has a zip that makes the jacket to be open halfway through the bottom to my waist, I normally do that and it is much better. But if I want to have it completely closed it could be a little bit uncomfortable. So not sure if their sizings are spot on.

The price has been reduced from £98 to £74.95 so check their website now if you would like to take advantage of this offer.

 Nick’s choice: Tide Shirt – Navy Oxford – £37.50

Nick always needs shirts so this is, of course, his first choice when he looks for new clothes. This shirt has a lovely colour. It is a navy oxford colour. I really like it and I think it suits Nick’s skin colour. It brightens him up.

It is crafted from 100% cotton and it comes with distressed wooden button detailing, contrast neck lining and a classic cut. See the features below:

  • 100% cotton
  • Distressed wooden button detail
  • Curved hem
  • Outer fabric: 100% Cotton
  • Fabric weight 170g
  • Machine washable

Nick really likes this shirt. He says that it is very comfy and he feels great when he is wearing it. It is easy to combine with his jeans and trousers so he has been wearing it a lot lately. When he likes something he tends to wear it several times.

Girls’ choice: Belle Dress – Blue Bay Dot – £21.95

I absolutely love this dress. I like the style and the colour combination between the blue and the yellow. It is very cute and I think it looks adorable on my girls! 😉

This long-sleeved dress is both sweet and colourful. Herringbone detailing and pretty patch pockets add a girly touch to the soft cotton jersey style.

See below all the features:

  • 100% cotton jersey
  • Crew neck
  • Contrast upper fabric
  • Contrast back neck zip
  • Two contrast front patch pockets
  • Notched hem with herringbone detail
  • Outer fabric: 100% Cotton, Jersey
  • Fabric weight 320g
  • Machine washable

The only problem we found is that both felt a little bit small to wear as a dress so the girls decided to wear the dress with leggings. Sienna chose white leggings and Bella black leggings. I thought they looked great in either colour. Of course, I would have prefered the dress without leggings but it wasn’t a bad alternative and they felt more comfortable that way.

I am thinking that now that the weather has started to change, I will suggest to them to wear the dress with tights. I think this could be great as they will be able to wear the dress even longer.

Lighthouse Clothing: Our Thoughts

Nick and the girls posing in their new Lighthouse Clothing outfits

Overall we are all very pleased with our pieces and we are really looking forward to seeing their upcoming new collections. We will be definitely be checking them out!

Have you bought from Lighthouse Clothing before? What do you think of the pieces we chose?

*Disclosure: We received an item for each of us from Lighthouse Clothing for the purpose of this review. However, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thanks for stopping by,

Love you all ❤️

I absolutely love that Parka but I live in the Southern US and it is hot! We really don’t really have a fall but this jacket would probably be the only “winter” coat that I would need. I will look to see if they deliver to the US and if they don’t, I will find a jacket like this one.

I have been trying to keep eating a good breakfast every morning to help me with my low iron! .Most days I have branflakes and sometimes weetabix but Fridays to Sundays, I make a little effort and prepare overnight oats. So we have our first teacher’s strike day today which means no school and learning from home..Bella is doing her school work via Google classroom so she will follow her normal school day that way and Sienna doesn’t have a structured day from school today so she should have a day off but we have agreed for her to do some work too, so she will be reading, practicing for her spelling test and doing some maths. This way we can all have a productive day 😉, well hopefully! 😬. Have you been affected by the strike today? ✨Happy Friday✨.Did you have a good week? Unf ✨Happy Friday✨.Did you have a good week? Unfortunately, it wasn’t that good for us because the girls have been under the weather. Bella started first with a sore throat and high fever for a few days and then when Bella got better, Sienna started! She got a horrible cough but no temperature. Her cough was that bad that she couldn’t sleep very well for a couple of nights. They are both much better now and back to school.. The weather hasn’t helped either. It has been so cold lately! I literally feel frozen all the time. Thankfully it is looking better atm as the temperatures are starting to rise. I decided to get my flu vaccine, so I hope it protects me from all these viruses that are going around! Have you had the flu vaccine too? .On another note, I went yesterday to a parents meeting about GCSE options for Bella. I can’t believe she needs to think about it already ahead of Year 9.
