A Lovely Afternoon at The Waldorf Hilton

amomentwithfranca · 26 October 2017 · 54 Comments

Not long ago I was invited for a wonderful afternoon tea at The Waldorf Hilton.  I was super excited to visit this hotel because I have heard so many amazing things and having a traditional afternoon tea there would be a wonderful experience!

I was visiting The Waldorf Hilton for an Afternoon Tea organised by Zena from Zena’s Suitcase who is a good friend of mine. I was also going to meet another 5 lovely bloggers, some who I have met before like Claire from Tin Box Traveller, so I was excited to see them!

The Waldorf Hilton is located in Aldwych in Central London. I travelled by bus as it was a direct journey from door to door so it was perfect for me. It took about an hour to get there but it was a nice journey because I sat on the top deck of the bus at the front so I had a fantastic view of the London streets.

I haven’t visited this hotel before so you can imagine my excitement when I arrived. It is very impressive on the outside and gorgeous on the inside. The Waldorf, known as The Waldorf Hilton since January 2004, has an illustrious history and rich heritage dating back to its opening in 1908. Set in the heart of London’s theatre land, close to Covent Garden, the hotel has attracted a string of stars from all over the world. What better way to spend a lovely afternoon than experiencing a traditional afternoon tea at The Waldorf Hilton!

As soon as I arrived I went to meet the others in the Homage room. The room was beautiful and big. The room was accompanied by their elegant resident pianist and harpist. We were taken care of by the attentive staff who were very nice and explained to us what we would be having. We were given some champagne to start the afternoon on a high! 🙂

We then were asked what type of tea we would like to order. They have a really nice and varied range of teas. I went for The Waldorf Tribute Blend which is a combination of malty, peak 2nd flush Assam tea with a hint of the evocative, smoky Lapsang Souchong tea, together creating a heady aroma of bonfires and honey. The tea was served from silver pots and fine china crockery. It was all so delicate!

Then they brought us a selection of sandwiches:

  • Oak smoked salmon and chive infused cream cheese
  • Baked ham with a hint of Dijon mustard
  • Free range egg and watercress
  • Open faced chicken coronation
  • Citrus fused tuna mayonnaise with slivers of chilled cucumber

I particularly liked the finger sandwiches including tuna and egg mayo. Each was very tasty! I really enjoyed it!

Tiered stand

Delicious warm scones

Not long after, they brought a tiered stand of sweet treats as well as a selection of warm scones served with clotted cream and jam. OMG, this was delicious! I loved it!

It was actually very filling so we couldn’t finish it all so I took a cute box home with some of the pastries and scones in it and they went down a treat at home.

To end the afternoon tea we were given complimentary cocktails! My cocktail was specially prepared for me which was very nice of them. I said that I would like some strawberries with vodka. They did a great job because I really enjoyed my cocktail. It was lovely!

I really enjoyed my time at The Waldorf Hilton and I can highly recommend you to try the afternoon tea too if you are in the area. What a fantastic experience!

Have you been to The Waldorf Hilton before? Do you like afternoon teas? What do you think of The Waldorf Afternoon Tea? What was your favourite food?

*Disclosure: I was invited to The Waldorf Hilton for a complimentary Afternoon Tea for the purpose of this blog post. However, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thanks for stopping by,

Love you all ❤️

Macarons and an iced creamy sponge which made me think of a more sophisticated French Fancy, a deliciously sticky orange marmalade cake and the richest chocolate ganache cup with an edible flower to decorate – so rich, I reluctantly declared myself defeated.

✨Breakfast✨.Nothing like a healthy filling b ✨Breakfast✨.Nothing like a healthy filling breakfast, right? I have been trying to keep eating a good breakfast every morning to help me with my low iron! .Most days I have branflakes and sometimes weetabix but Fridays to Sundays, I make a little effort and prepare overnight oats. I love them! They are so tasty and leave me satisfy for hours which means not craving for snacks until lunch time! Win win 😀.I prepare the oats with chia seeds, almond milk, vanilla extract, honey and leave it overnight. In the morning, I serve it with strawberries, blueberries, banana and honey. ✨Teacher’s Strike Day✨.Happy hump day! So ✨Teacher’s Strike Day✨.Happy hump day! So we have our first teacher’s strike day today which means no school and learning from home..Bella is doing her school work via Google classroom so she will follow her normal school day that way and Sienna doesn’t have a structured day from school today so she should have a day off but we have agreed for her to do some work too, so she will be reading, practicing for her spelling test and doing some maths. This way we can all have a productive day 😉, well hopefully! 😬. Have you been affected by the strike today? ✨Happy Friday✨.Did you have a good week? Unf ✨Happy Friday✨.Did you have a good week? Unfortunately, it wasn’t that good for us because the girls have been under the weather. Bella started first with a sore throat and high fever for a few days and then when Bella got better, Sienna started! She got a horrible cough but no temperature. Her cough was that bad that she couldn’t sleep very well for a couple of nights. They are both much better now and back to school.. The weather hasn’t helped either. It has been so cold lately! I literally feel frozen all the time. Thankfully it is looking better atm as the temperatures are starting to rise. I decided to get my flu vaccine, so I hope it protects me from all these viruses that are going around! Have you had the flu vaccine too? .On another note, I went yesterday to a parents meeting about GCSE options for Bella. I can’t believe she needs to think about it already ahead of Year 9. The time really goes fast. Are your kids dealing with GCSEs too?.📸 Sharing this beautiful bouquet of flowers from @freddiesflowers to brighten up our day.#flowerarrangement #flowerdelivery #bouquetofflowers #flowersmakemehappy #loveflowers #flowersoftheday #flowersoftheweek #flowerlover #freshflowers #flowerobsession #bunchofflowers #foreverflowers #flowersofinstagram #homesweethome
