Six Things To Do To Improve Your Skin

amomentwithfranca · 30 June 2020 · 32 Comments

With the years my skin has become very sensitive and I had to change the way I treat it. I never used to have problems with my skin before but now every product I use to remove my makeup, for some reason, is causing me an allergic reaction. It can leave me with irritated skin for a few days.

I have made a few changes to my routine and the way I take care of my skin which seems to be helping me lately. So I thought i’d put together a list of the things that have helped me so far. See below:

1. Makeup Remover Cloths

As I mentioned before, every single product I have used lately to remove my makeup was affecting my skin. After searching for a solution, I came across a fabulous product called “Erase your Face” which was actually suggested by another blogger friend. I was desperate to find a solution to my problem so I gave it a go.

I am so glad I did because these makeup remover cloths are magical. You simply wet them, use them and then hang up to dry.  It will remove every single bit of makeup you have on your face, even waterproof makeup. I was so impressed. I am a fan of it and since getting it I have not used anything else.

I also like that it is reusable and easy to take with you when travelling.  I highly recommend it, especially if you have sensitive skin like me. I even have some eczema on my eyelids sometimes and this helped tremendously with that problem.

2.Serums &  Oils

I never used serums before until I reached my 40s. I seriously think they are magical. My skin is dry so the serum really helps to hydrates it. I like to put it before I go to bed. It really helps my skin to feel rejuvenated and I feel much fresher in the morning.

I have tried different serums in the past and most of them have been very good. But, of course, I have my favourites like Mitchel and Peach Flora No. 1 Fine Radiance Face Oil,  Angela Langford Bloom & Glow, Dr Botanicals Vegan Moroccan Rose Superfood Facial Oil or ByBi Strawberry Booster.

3.Silk’n FaceTite Ritual

I have previously done a review of the Silk’n FaceTite Ritual and I have mentioned there how good my skin feels after trying this ritual. You should be doing this twice per week for 10 weeks and then change to once every 2 weeks. You can carry on as long as you feel your skin needs it.

I have seen a massive improvement since I started using it and my skin feels super soft as a result of the treatment. It has definitely helped with my wrinkles as well as smoothing my skin.

4. Clean Makeup Brushes

I didn’t use to clean my make up brushes very often so my brushes were very dirty. When I started having problems with my skin I immediately thought that I needed to start cleaning my brushes more often.

This process is very easy to do and doesn’t take too long. I use baby shampoo and then clean it with water and leave it to air dry. I honestly think that it is very important to do this quite often, especially if you wear a lot of makeup every day. And it is very hygienic too.

5. Not Wearing Makeup Every Day

Since my skin problems started, I have tried to reduce wearing makeup every day. I  have never been that person that needs to wear makeup every time I go out of the house but I like to do my eyebrows and put some lipstick on. This has definitely contributed to having better skin.

I guess the lockdown has helped with this as I haven’t needed to put makeup on and this has been beneficial.

6. Remove Makeup

I know this one sounds obvious but I know a lot of people that get very tired before they go to bed and forget to remove their makeup until the next day.

But I also wanted to suggest that you should remove your makeup as soon as you are back home or as soon as you don’t need your makeup on anymore. I used to come back from events and left my makeup on for the rest of the day and it was a bad habit. Now I remove my makeup as soon as I am back home or as soon as I don’t need it on. This has helped a lot with my skin improvement. After removing my makeup, I usually apply some moisturiser and my skin feels much better.

These are the 6 things that I am doing now that have definitely helped to improve my skin and they are now part of my skin routine.

What other things do you do to take care of your skin?

I’ve just started using makeup removing cloths and they’re SO much better than wipes! I’ve also heard great thinks about the Silk ‘n’ range so I’ll have a look into that treatment.

I totally agree with these tips, especially the cleaning of the make-up brushes. I am very guilty of not doing this enough. I too gave my skin a breather during the lockdown and went lots of days without wearing foundation and I couldn’t believe the improvement! The other thing I do a lot of these days is put a cleansing mask on. I absolutely love them. The cream is lovely and cool and you leave it on your skin for about twenty minutes and then wipe it all off – skin feels so soft and smooth afterwards. I give them a big thumbs up!! #KCACOLS
