Are your kid’s fans of Spirit Riding Free? My girl’s love the show so we have been super excited to be working with them and to be invited to a Spirit Riding Free Adventure Experience in Devon. It is so great to be able to bring life to something your kids only see on screen, isn’t it? It makes it a little bit more special for them.
Spirit Riding Free is on the Pop channel with a new season out in Autumn 2019. The show is about 12 year old Lucky who moves from the big city to the countryside. She really feels like a fish out of water but then she meets a wild mustang she names Spirit and they form an incredible bond together. Along with their new best friends, Abigail and Pru, Lucky and Spirit set off on daring adventures, push their limits, and discover what it means to be truly free.
Spirit Riding Free Adventure Experience In Devon
We had the most amazing 2 days. I honestly think they really put on a fantastic event. Bella has been to many events before but nothing like this one. I think it was very special because she was allowed to bring a friend with her so it really made the whole experience for her even more amazing.
We travelled by train from Paddington Station to Newton Abbot. It wasn’t that far. About 2:30 hrs if I am not wrong. There was a taxi waiting for us at the station which took us to the Yurt Camping site. This place was lovely. I haven’t seen anything quite like that before although it reminded me a little bit of the Kings Luxury Tents at Warwick Castle we stayed at last year but I loved that these yurts were so close to the Dartmoor National Park.
From the moment we arrived, the girls had a very tight itinerary. This meant that they were entertained the whole time. There was a mix of mummy bloggers and competition winners. So it was a really nice atmosphere.
We were taken to our yurt which was no 17 by Louise who was the person in charge of us. She was lovely! The yurt was massive with very comfy beds with really nice mattresses. We slept very well there. The girls were super excited. The yurt was decorated with Spirit Riding Free deco so it looked very cute. They had a linen set as well as a cushion to keep. The girls also got a personalised hat each too.
If you have seen my stories on Instagram you may have seen our yurt there. You can still watch the “Spirit” highlight which shows everything we did while we were there.
Taking Part In The Spirit Riding Free Adventure Experience
We had a yummy BBQ lunch first. We were hungry so this was well-received lol! The girls then went to a giant teepee to have a welcome chat with our lovely host Anna who also explained what do the girls needed to do next. The whole experience was about guessing clues in order to get the numbers of the code to reveal their amazing personalised Spirit Riding Free treasure sacks full of goodies.
First, they had to find their treasure maps which were hiding inside our yurt. So we went there and discovered them. These maps were used to put their numbers after cracking some clues.
They were then split into 4 coloured groups (we were blue) and had to find 12 coloured horseshoes. After finding them they were given another number to add to their treasure map.
Next, they had to solve a riddle which was the clue of their next adventure. The answer to this was a steam train which meant that all the explorers were going on a steam train ride. And the best part was that there was afternoon tea included.
The steam train was amazing! We had such a great time here. We have been on a steam train before but not with an afternoon tea included. Our host Andy was so much fun and took care of us really well.
The views were mesmerising and the food was delicious. We loved it. The conductor gave them their train ticket which helped them to get their next number for their treasure maps.
Then it was back to the camping site to have a little rest before dinner. After a 2-course dinner, all the explorers had a fun viewing party watching 2 episodes of the Spirit Riding Free show inside the giant teepee. We then went back to bed to have an early start with more adventures.
We woke early, got changed and went for breakfast. This was so nice. I loved the scrambled eggs, freshly squeezed orange juice and the avocado. They also had a proper English breakfast too.
The day started off by cracking another code again. They received an activity sheet with a key of symbols that represented a letter of the alphabet. They were so quick to solve this clue and get another number. Very smart kids.
Their next adventure was a Dartmoor pony riding experience in the middle of Dartmoor National Park. We went to Shilstone Rocks Dartmoor Riding Centre. They have the most beautiful Dartmoor ponies there. They were actually champion ponies. Super cute.
They were taken for 1 hr of pony riding up the hills. It was lovely. The views were again mesmerising and the girls loved it so much. I had to walk so I ended up really tired, lol. After this, they both received a bespoke rosette.
Once the riding experience was over, it was back to the yurt camp for a packed lunch. The girls had 2 more activities to do to get their last numbers. For this part, they made a beautiful Dreamcatcher and decorated a huge Spirit masterpiece.
Then they got their final code and were ready to unlock their amazing Spirit Riding Free treasure sacks! Hurrah!
Inside was a Spirit & Lucky Dolls Deluxe Feeding Set, Spirit Doll and Classic Horse Pru and Boomerang & a Spirit Riding Free puzzle. If your little ones are fans of the show like mine you can buy these products and more at Smyths Toys.
We had the best time and I know the girls both really enjoyed this. It has also made them more excited to watch the new shows when they come out on Pop! It was such a lovely thoughtful experience, I know they will both remember it for a long time!
Will you be tuning in to watch the new episodes?
*Disclosure: This is a Paid Partnership with Dreamworks Animation in order to help promote their new season of Spirit Riding Free that airs on Pop this Autumn.
Thanks for stopping by,
Love you all ❤️
