We’re always out and about on the road, off on holidays or weekend breaks and that means keeping in touch with friends and family whilst we’re away is really important. With this in mind, here’s a post based around ways to keep in touch with family and friends whilst you’re away to make sure you don’t lose touch.
1) Skype
By far the best way to keep in touch is by using Skype. It doesn’t matter whereabouts in the world you are as long as you and the person you’re wanting to chat to has an internet connection you can video call using Skype. It’s free to use, simply download the app and add your friend/family member then you can choose whether to chat using messenger or video call. Other similar options include using FaceTime (for those with Apple devices, and Viber).
2) Send Gifts and Parcels
With delivery services like the ones available at TNT, now offering such cheap and convenient delivery both domestically and internationally you’ll never miss a friend or family member’s birthday when you’re away again. Be sure to always use a reliable courier and you’ll remain in good favour with those at home no matter how long it is you’re away for. The main issue with sending gifts is remembering not to forget those important dates in the first place, so always set a reminder on your phone beforehand or make a note in your diary.
3) Start Up a Blog
If you’re going to be away for a long period or just enjoy writing in general, there’s no better way to keep a record of all your exciting adventures than by writing a blog to keep people updated and to look back on when you get back. Be sure to upload pictures and links to all the great places you’ve visited. There’s a huge range of different platforms you can use to start your blog from Blog Spot to WordPress, so do some research into which ones are going to work best for you, then start uploading all your posts, don’t forget to share them on Facebook and Twitter!
With all these tips, you’ll not be feeling homesick on your travels anytime soon. We’re never away for too long, but when we are we always stick to the above no matter where in the world and it works a treat so hopefully it will for you too – happy travels!
How do you keep in touch with your family and friends when you are away? Do you have more tips that we can add to this list?
