5 Great Time Management Tips for Online Students Who Like to Travel

amomentwithfranca · 6 June 2017 · Leave a Comment

Online courses allow students to study at any time, and anywhere. This makes them the ideal option for students who enjoy travelling, as there’s no reason why you can’t hop on a plane, travel to somewhere exotic, and study for your online MBA degree from a beach somewhere.

5 Great Time Management Tips for Online Students Who Like to Travel

However, while this all sounds great, it’s incredibly easy to lose focus, especially when there are so many other things you’d rather be doing. In this blog post, we’ll provide a few time management tips that should help you continue your studies while still having a great time on your trips.

5 Great Time Management Tips for Online Students Who Like to Travel

1. You Need Structure

Whether you are studying from a beach or the comfort of your hotel room, you need to make some kind of schedule for the hours you will spend studying and the time you will spend having fun. Create a study calendar if you can, detailing the exact hours that you will spend on your laptop or with your books. Make sure to include any deadlines you have for essay submissions, and also mark down your exams. Not only will this help ensure that you stick to your degree, but it will also stop you from feeling guilty when you do non-study-related activities.

2. Check in Daily

After graduating from your online MBA program, you should be career-ready. And when you do enter into an important business role, you’ll most likely be required to check in daily to ensure everything is running as it should. So, why not get into the habit of doing this now? You don’t have to physically do homework every day, but you should check in with your school and check out the lesson timetables. Not only will this prevent you from being caught off guard if a syllabus changes, for example, but it will also motivate you to stay on track with your studies. This practice is valuable for students in online MBA programs across the nation, including those attending colleges in South Carolina.

3. Plan Ahead

When travelling, you must plan ahead. You don’t want to fly to a new country on the day an assignment is due, or even worse, on an exam day. Make sure you are fully aware of your class schedule and when things are required of you. Many times, people neglect to look at this and are left either missing deadlines, rushing to catch up, or rebooking flights due to an oversight. All of these things can be costly – not just for your wallet, but for your education as well.

4. Speak Up

Finally, if you fall behind, don’t be afraid to speak up and let your course director know about it. It happens more often than you think, and you won’t be penalized for travelling and studying at the same time. If the situation warrants it, your instructor may be able to increase your deadline or offer some extra credit work to help you make up your lapse. Most online schools also have counsellors who can help.

Travelling while studying can be lots of fun, but managing your time is essential for success.
