My youngest daughter Sienna has grown up so much now that I think she is ready to share a room with her sister. I have been thinking about this for a long time. I really want my girls to love their bedroom and to want to spend time there playing as well sleeping.
Sleeping has always been an issue as my girls tend to wake up in the night and look for us. This is something I would like to change, so I was hoping that reorganising their bedroom would be a good start. If they are in an environment they love they will surely want to be there more!
This bunk bed would be lovely in white
At the moment, we still have Sienna’s cot-bed there. This is definitely too small for her now so I want to get rid of it. One of the things I wanted to do was to change their beds into a bunk bed. I wasn’t sure about this before because Sienna is only two and I didn’t want her climbing to the top bunk and then falling.
She will, of course, have the bed at the bottom and Bella the bed at the top. I’m still worried about her climbing but I have realised that she is not that small anymore. I think she seems ready for these changes. This is not going to happen one day to another one as I’m planning theses changes for the New Year so we still have a few more months for her to grow a bit more.
Something like this but with no TV and all in white and pink
I then plan to set up a playing area which will have a storage solution. This area should be organised in a way that it is easy for them to get their toys out but also easy for them to tidy up too. Their room needs to be a practical room where they can access their toys easily and play freely so then they would love to be in there more.
I was thinking of getting a little play tent or teepee so they can hide and play inside it. My girls love that kind of thing and I know they are popular with all kids so I think it will be great when they have playdates. Maybe a little wooden kitchen could be fun to have too.
Sometimes I wish we could move to a house with a loft so I could transform it into a magical room for them. I have some ideas in my mind that I think would be perfect. I have seen some blinds by Velux blinds with cool Disney designs that I think my girls would love. I think that would be perfect for a couple of windows.
The windows will bring some light in during the day and then during the night you can keep things darker with the blinds. You could also leave them open so they can see the night sky through them.
One thing that we are very happy with at the moment is their wardrobe. Before Sienna was born we changed the room to fit a baby and a 4-year-old. We have two double wardrobes with large sliding door from Ikea for each so they have a lot of space for their clothes. We also have a single unit with shelves where they have some toys. I would love to get another of these units in the playing area for their storage solution. This will help to keep the room tidy.
I will also like to redecorate the room with a new theme, so I can complement the changes with that theme. Something cute and girly. I’m not sure exactly yet as I still need to do some research but it will be nice for everything to follow the same theme. I also need to buy new lamp shades for the ceiling and for their table side that matches the theme.
I hope these changes will make them love their room and to sleep there all night so mummy and daddy can enjoy their room without having guests every night, LOL!
Are you also thinking of reorganising or redecorating any of your children’s rooms? Do your kids share a room too? Do you have any tips on how to make it more appealing for them? Please leave a comment below as I would love to read what you think.
